Hi all

I have an oldish Mac mini with a 500GB internal drive & 1.5TB external drive. Both are backed up via Time Machine.

I have a new Mac mini that I want to switch to & am planning to restore from the older mini's TM backup. But I don't want to restore the 1.5TB drive - there's no point as I can just plug it into the newer machine.

So I'm planning on unplugging the 1.5TB drive, backing up the 500GB internal drive to a new TM drive, then restoring the new mini from this new TM backup. Once restored, I will plug in the 1.5TB external drive & all should be good.

Any flaws in this plan / is there an easier way to do this?
I'm assuming if I try to restore the new mini from the existing TM backup (that contains both 500GB & 1.5TB drives) it will try to restore all 2TB? There's no way to say 'just restore a particular disk'?

Thanks in advance for feedback
