installd is still running in the background and App Store Update notifications are still being posted even though I have "Automatically check for updates" turned off.

Does anybody know how to actually turn off the "Automatically check for updates"? installd uses up a lot of cpu resources, causing my fans to kick in, and I don't need to be alerted every time some random app has been updated.
