iPhone 14 Pro two devices one Apple ID

My daughter wants me to set up a Christmas Present for a new iPhone when it comes on Friday. The person this is for uses an Apple iPad all the time that is only connected to an Apple ID but not a phone plan. Will it notify him that his ID is being used on another device? I think it might. This phone will be on my plan. Any ideas on how I can do this without spilling the beans about his present?

It will alert him. I would kindly tell your daughter it is not a good idea to do what she wants.

The present will be just as thrilling without an Apple ID already set up.

Well, they decided to bring me his iPad on the way to work. I am to set up the phone and they will pick up both and take them home. I just hope I have enough time.
