10.2 b1 is pretty good. Much better than previous versions, and to be honest it is hard to tell with this version if it is any worse than my previous iPhone 6plus on iOS 9, as there will always be the odd glitch.

Hi All, sorry for any delays in responding, i have been in Australia using the Free 3 roaming (3G only though :( amazing how you miss 4G). anyway i have updated to the latest versions (10.1 & 10.1.1) now i am back it seemed to go to 4G immediately after turning it back on and has held all weekend. I went to the office today but it seemed to be on 3G for quite a while before going to 4G and stayed there. I am now back home and still running 4G. I think they have cracked it for the moment. Interesting to see if 10.2 completely fixes it or breaks it again.

Scratch that - it still isn't fixed on 10.2 b1. It is a lot lot better than it was, but I still occasionally need to flick airplane mode on and off to force a 4g connection

which phone/finish/size is it you have?

iPhone 7 plus.

As I said the defect is very subtle now but it is still there. It usually happens when I have gone through an area with no signal that when it reconnects it gets stuck on 3G, but not always and it is a lot better than it was.

10.2b2 has updated the modem firmware again, but I won't get the chance to download it and try it till next week. Has anyone else tried 10.2b2 yet?

Since updating to 10.1.1 the issue is still not fixed. Finds 4G initially but then reverts to 3G and rarely moves back. Also, calls are going straight to voicemail despite showing full 3G signal.

Three tell me that the phone is not switching properly.....(i knew this).....and that the phone is not registering fully onto 3G when it comes back.

I also now getting very slow speeds on 3G.

I have moved to multiple locations so this is not a localised issue.

I'm using a 7 Plus

I'm having the exact same problem, very frustrating! Was going mad as both 3 and Apple were blaming each other and both denied any knowledge of a problem!
Missing calls despite a full 3G signal and it took me ages to find out what was happening, the problem mainly happens if the 4G is on "Voice & Data" turning that to "Data" helped but now I hardly pick up a 4G signal but the issue is happening now even if on "Data" only. So turned off 4G fully.
Using 7 plus and this is the second phone as Apple had no other solution... of course that did not help.
Hopefully an update will fix but until then I just have to use with 4G off!

Don't suppose anyone has heard any more news on this from Apple/Three. On my iPhone 7 Plus running 10.1.1 with Carrier Three 26.0 I can't keep a 4g connection longer than a few minutes before it drops back to 3g. Tried the public beta 2 for 10.2 and that was just as bad. Starting to think there's not going to be a resolution to this problem :-(

It is definitely getting better but I am still having problems with 10.2b2. I take it you have submitted a bug report with the beta so hey know about it?

Exactly the same issue I have. Have tried 3 different iPhone 7 Plus handsets now and all have same issue

iOS 10.2 beta 3 just updated the Three carrier to version 27. Maybe just maybe things will be better. But I doubt it.

Noticing a problem with 4G on my iPhone 7 Plus at work, which my iPhone 6 didn't have.

Although I'm with EE. If I have a weak 4G signal 1/2 bars it randomly loses the 4G connection and connects to Edge and not 3G which is odd.

I have the latest iOS so hoping its a software fix and not a faulty phone.

I am on EE and now having the same issue. Only happened after the latest update to 10.1.1 Was working fine before that.

I am on Three(3) UK - iPhone 7 128GB, bought SIM free, from Covent Garden Apple Store.

Called 3 this morning after noticing that I couldn't get over 2MB download speed yesterday in various locations in London on 4G - iOS 10.1.1 || Three 26.0, Enable Data is set to 'Data Only'.

Customer service rep tells me that for about 15 days customers have been reporting that they can't access 4G from iPhone 7/7+ devices and have informed Apple and are currently waiting on them for software update.

Don't know how much this helps, but just wanted to add to the convo.

Edit: I've since turned off 4G, and I'm getting download speeds of 20+MB so it's not all bad.

That's on 3LTE with 3-4 bars of service strength.

I had posted in here before, when my phone wasn't switching between 3g/4g properly, which seems to have been resolved for me.

Although, I am getting terrible speeds in Glasgow city centre (where i work). Averaging 4 bars of 4g service, with an average down speed of 0.02mbps down and 2.4mbps up. Ive been monitoring on and off since getting the 7+ and other non iPhone 7's are getting 15-20ish down and up.

Getting a new sim card from three to try, although Im convinced is the device. I miss out on iMessages, as I assume the data connection is so poor. deffo something not right somewhere. Phone is un-usable for most of my working day

I know most of the replays on here are for 7+. But for the last 2 weeks I have been having almost the same issues on my 7 128gb on iOS 10.1.1 on the three uk network

Called three today as only able to get 1/5 dots signal on 4g and speeds don't hit 5mb.

Phone keeps flipping to 3G on 5/5 dots.

Three say it's and Apple issue. Apple say is a three issue. Meanwhile I am
Stuck in the middle paying for a sim contract and iPhone on Apple upgrade program.

Ended up calling Apple again and got the same escalation advisor I was dealing with last month prior to the 10.1.1 upgrade.

So back to square 1

Mike.

Small update on my post above.

I decided to jump sim shot yesterday to EE and straight away signal and 4g connectivity is vastly improved.

Previously on three I was getting 1/5 signal and 10mb max 4g.

Now on EE I have 3/5 or 4/5 and get 45+mb on 4g

Definitely carrier related but each time I call three I get a different story.

It is a carrier issue and it is usually related to the SIM card, 3 are notoriously bad when it comes to SIM card and connectivity issues. A replacement SIM card fixes the issue 9 out of 10 times.

You made the right decision switching to EE though, the 4G coverage can't be beaten and even in the sticks you get decent 4G speeds.

Must admit I am thinking of jumping ship.. Only thing that I would miss is Feel At Home...

Not too bad now if I'm static in a good area.

However, traveled by rail a few weekends ago with my other half who has my old 6s. Both on Three UK.

It was depressing to see how the 6s held 4g signal much longer, and reverted back much quicker than the 7. Also how it found signal much quicker again after blackspots.

Really did make me think about either complaining to Apple or jumping back to EE.

I've just signed up to add to this thread. I'm also on Three with 10.1.1 on the iPhone 7 Plus and am experiencing the same issue with 4G.

Having spoken yesterday with Three they were adamant that the issue is with Apple and for them to resolve.

I have noticed another issue that I am experiencing that may be pure coincidence but I find that a lot of the time, more so at home, that my phone will have a decent signal yet people calling me are diverted straight to voicemail. It doesn't happen every time but it is more often than not.

Given that both Three and Apple have work to do and nothing seems to be happening quickly I have just ordered an EE SIM in hope that my issues will be solved.
