Hello guys

I would like to know if it is possible to use a UK O2 iPhone in Germany.
After finishing my studies here in the UK I would like to use the phone in Germany with a german SIM card.

I talked to O2 and they said that it's not possible because the phone is locked.

Is there no possibility to use it with a non UK SIM card?

Thanks

O2 weren't lying to you.
You'll need to jailbreak + unlock (depending what baseband you're on).
Have a browse through the iPhone Hacks forum.
Choose a great tutorial for your device from iClarified.

Is it recommended to Jailbreak and unlock the phone?
Will I get support from Apple in means of updates or so on?

Sorry but I'm completely new to the iPhone, so I have no idea.

You can download updates but it will break your jailbroken phone and you'll have to do it again when a new crack comes out.

I also assume it will void the warranty or something dumb like that because... well that's Apple. Hopefully I am wrong though.

If anything does go wrong you could always restore with an official update though right..then when you get it back restore with custom firmware?
