I have just bought a new ipod nano 4th gen and a universal dock with a power cord to and an AV cable to connect it to my amplifer. When i put the nano in the dock nothing at all happens, if i use the remote nothing happens and it does not even load the battery. If i connect the power cord direct to the ipod it starts to load but not through the dock. Is the dock broken or can it be something else?

Maybe the dock you purcharsed is an older model.
And if it is, then it doesnt support the 4th generation nano.

I think the current universal dock is the MB125G/B model.
I have the MB125G/A and it works fine with my iPhone3G and my iPod classic
but i havent tried the latest generation iPods so i cant really tell.

Nop, its the new MB125G/B model. It even has the plastic converter in the box that make the 4th gen nano to fit in it. I bought it from applestore so now i probelly have to send it back :(
