I'm typing this on the new MacBook Pro...

But my fingers are badly bruised from the new keyboard. I tore a nail on the delete key when reaching to activate Siri. The Touch Bar works better with blood on it, and I use it 90% of the time since I can't see the screen beyond the glitches. I'm typing as fast as I can on this thing because I'm only getting 11 minutes battery time and that's with the screen at 20% brightness.
My poor wife is writhing in pain after tripping over my 27 dongles and adapters that are trailed across the carpet. I did warn her, so I don't feel guilty.

And so...this is STILL the best laptop around. I may even go for the 15" in a month or two. Haters can unite, but the quality of this machine will slowly push it to the top...as always. If these new machines get goofy I'll use this thing called a warranty. Mine came with one, so I guess I was lucky. ....and look at that! When I typed "lucky" the little clover appeared in my touch bar and I used it! They should charge more!

[doublepost=1480910849][/doublepost]BTW....I've been using the 13" TOUCH BAR version since about 10 this morning all on battery. It's just after 8:00 now and I still have 30% left. Screen is set two clicks below maximum brightness. There were a few hours where I didn't use it much, but this is pretty close to what my MacBook Air can do, so I'm happy with the battery life so far.

I also forgot the mention the speakers...very good for a 13" notebook!

With every new product release from Apple it's getting more and more clear that Steve Jobs is not running the company any more.

Agreed. Apple never and refuse to learn not to trust AMD. It abandoned AMD in favor of Intel back in the beginning x86 day also because of poor reliability of AMD CPUs.
Wise up Apple, pay a little more and make a little less!

It didnt abandon AMD cpus. Apple never used AMD cpus. And the reason they didn't use AMD was that AMD didn't have a comprehensive roadmap that included ultra low power cpus.

So I guess nobody here can afford the new Apple stuff? Sour grapes.

I am sure that with that attitude you are very good at problem solving!

When will people learn??? *Never* buy a first-generation new Apple design. Wait a year for them to sort out the issues.
If everybody did that, there would not be a rev 2....as NO sales would not warrant a second version.

Your logic is flawed!

Nah, people just have short memories. Apple's releases have been as plagued with problems as anyone else's. The difference is in how Apple handles show-stopping problems like flaking screens, warping battery cases, cracked displays, iphones that can't make phone calls etc. Unfortunately for Apple its competition usually is falling over itself to restore consumer confidence whereas Apple does things like blame the customer, deny the problem, go into a brooding silence and then quietly settle with consumers hoping no one notices. It's just a shame that parting with enough money to pay for a modest but real kitchen renovation results in a slab of wafer thin aluminium alloy that for many turns out to be not fit for purpose.

Finally got a picture of it. Took me a dozen tries to get my mbp to go in to Closed Lid mode with two external displays. Reboots, connecting displays while open, connecting while closed, etc, in all cases screens would maybe flicker for a sec but then go dark. Somewhere during this the below happened.

Finally got it to work by connecting ONE display, closing the lid. then connecting the second, second was still dark after several minutes so I unplugged and reconnected, THEN it worked.

Fun! Good thing I didn't decide to upgrade all my designers' MPs to laptops yet.

Sounds like another year where Apple designs the case and tries to shoehorn a dedicated GPU that does not belong in such a tight space. Its like they don't know how to work around the 3rd party components they use or just don't care to. These problems come from focusing on form rather than function. Because if it was the opposite there wouldn't constantly be GPU issues on MacBooks. I own 2 generations of MacBooks that had known GPU issues btw. Its the first thing I worry about when buying a MacBook that has a dedicated GPU. Its way past being a shame, its just sad.

Does the iMac have the same GPU issues? Just wondering since if I have to return this laptop for whatever reason I might consider an iMac.

This sucks, I need a new laptop desperately and I prefer the Mac environment. It has always just worked between all of my devices (iphone, ipad, etc.). Now I have no idea what to do and I can't use my 2008 Macbook Pro anymore. I'm a Graphic & Web Designer and other "competing" products have been garbage to the standards I've been accustomed to.

I occasionally see the same issues on my early 2013 MBP occasionally, but it's usually at the window level. Same on my mac pro with a 950 card.

Just buy a 2015 model that suits your needs, they are still available.

You're transcoding it wrong.

Heck, maybe I SHOULD buy a 2015 iMac now before they "upgrade" the line to the "new Apple" standards.
