video_ts to fce?

1st: my end goal is a video montage without sound for my halloween party either on dvd or on svhs at the end

i have video_ts files
final cut express
imovie
idvd
how do i get the video_ts into imovie or fce?
i dont care if the audio is there or not so for now i'm not bothering with splitting them
does fce do any compression?
i'm just getting started and most of my knowledge is from the last 3 hours on these furums

With Final Cut Pro, you can just rip the files with MacTheRipper and put it straight into FCP. Dunno if you can do that with FCE as well.
