I am using an iBook G4. The volume of my iBook keeps going to max. for no apparent reason. What should I do? I unplugged external peripherals but it has not helped.

The volume up key on the keyboard must be stuck in pressed down position. I would try sticking something thin like a butter knife just under the key and prying it up. Not so hard that you break the key off but hard enough to unstick it.

AFAIK, it isn't. I've tried pressing it down and it could go down. The volume keeps on maxing every few minutes.
