weird ghosting and pixel on my monitor

I was downloading and installing an update to my macmini, and right after the screen went briefly grey for a restart, there was a ghost image of the app store window still there, but it was gone after the mini rebooted.

But I also notice a small little pixel on one side of the monitor, and it is not just dirt, I tried cleaning it, it is like a dead or stuck pixel.

Is the mini going bad? or is the monitor going bad?

for more info, it is a 2005 or later older aluminum 20 inch apple cinema display.
