I inherited a 1.6 mhz G5 which showed to have 256 mb of RAM, so I ordered two more 256 mb modules. When I went to install them, I saw that all 4 slots were full of memory; two 512 mb modules and two 128 mb modules. I thought, therefore, that the 512's were bad & replaced them with the new 256's. Reboot, the new ram didn't show up, only the two 128's. So, I swapped them around and now the 256's show up as 512 mb total, but no 128's. The 512's never showed up, even with swapping. So is this a motherboard problem? What gives? I read something about Serial Presence Detect (SPD) with the EEPROM, but it was beyond my understanding.

Anybody know what's up with this?

thanksk
