I'm getting a G5 for Christmas this year. However, I can't think of what to name it. I'd like some suggestions. Maybe one of the suggestions here will be chosen as the name for my computer. For the record, my MacBook is named Katherine. The PowerBook is named Karinka. Anyone who's watched Steel Angel Kurumi will know the reference there.

Hal 9000 (2001)
Durandal (Marathon)
Tycho (Marathon)
Colossus (Colossus: The Forbidden Project)
AM (I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream)
Master Control Program (Tron)
WOPR (War Games)
Proteus IV (Demon Seed)
The Matrix (The Matrix)
Mother Brain (Phantasy Star II/Metroid)
Auto (WALL-E)
The Machine (The Machine Stops)

or

Cheese Grater

I name all of my machines after mythological figures. My dad always did it when I was growing up (our first computer was Hercules), and I've continued the tradition. Just a thought.

For the record putting spaces in the machine name can get a little screwy if you're doing terminal work and need to refer to the machine by name. Things are easier if you stick to single-word names.
