What's The Point Of The Public Folder?

The folder in the Account folder named Public, is that used when there are more than one account on the computer? If so can I just delete it?

It's part of the overall file sharing structure. It's there to allow you to provide a read-only access site in your folder to other network users without giving them access to your personal files. I guess you can delete it, but (a) it might get recreated when you log back in the next time, and (b) it doesn't do any harm being there. So I'd advise leaving it alone.
