Hi all, i have an existing macbook 60gb hardrive and i want to use it as a portable hd.

Looking for external cases that have USB2.0 support.

Firewire is also preferable but not necessary.:D

What size is the drive? 2.5¨? Lots of places should sell caddies for drives that size. I'm in the UK, so I wouldn't know where you'd look (Newegg?)

Wait! did you change it when I was replying? When I first clicked it showed IDE and SATA and you had a comment saying something like "You'll want a SATA enclosure"
Yeah that's probably it. The difference in our two post's "post time" made me think otherwise.

Well at least the OP got plenty of links to chose from :)

Nothing compared to what I would have to pay for one of those here in Denmark. At least twice the cost.

Try googling the individual case names to find a lower price or go with ebay.

make sure the one on ebay takes a SATA drive and not a ATA/IDE drive. Also make sure it comes with a power cord if the case requires one.

Don't go just by price. Portable devices take abuse. They get knocked and dropped. The best enclosures will be made of thick aluminum have a built-in heat sink and have the option to be powered from the USB or FW bus. These might cost $50 while a cheap plastic box might be $19.95. Buy which ever you need
