Does anyone know why 1.8GHz G5 prices are dropping so far?

I just got the latest MacMall catalog and the single CPU 1.8GHz model is selling for less ($1749) than the 1.6GHz model ($1794) -- even though the faster model has more RAM and twice the disk!

So what's going on?

its a interesting question isnt it? afterall the 1.8 exceeds the 1.6 in everyway perhaps it is a simple supply and demand issue and apple built way to many 1.8 machines. you still would think they would be a little more then the 1.6 or maybe 1.8 was the sweet chip in the ibm wafer?

It is because the 1.8 is in much higher stock. They want to clear out the already discontinued powermacs before releasing the new ones soon.:)
