I keep trying to install the plug-in for Windows Media Player, but when I try to open the application, I get a pop-up saying that there's no application to open WMP. Any suggestions on how to successfully download/run the player? Thanks!

Sounds like you're (new to your Mac? and) missing Stuffit Expander.

You can get it for free here: http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/download3.html

That will allow you to unstuff (uncompress) the installer and then install it. Please note, WMP on the Mac (particular in Tiger) is quite out of date and doesn't work too well. You might want to look into Flip4Mac as an alternative/buffer to/for WMP.

easiest thing is to just not use it. it's brought nothing but problems to me. so i'd say get VLC or MPlayer OSX...

WMP can play many WMV files that VLC and MPlayer cannot.
