Means nothing. Apple could have simply adjusted the default color temp. Perhaps because customers rely on social media for news and info. And message boards.

Recieved my iPhone 7 PLUS today and can confirm there is a slight tint of yellow compared to iPad and other iPhone. Also i feel like it's less brighter too - going in to Apple tomorrow

Wishing you luck in getting one of the clear blue screens like the display models!

Just wanted to throw that in.
According to this very intense display test, the iP7 is a superior screen and the best smartphone screen they have ever tested.
They also say the iP7 is calibrated very close to D65 standard, wich is kind of a professional display.
They also say the iP6/6s are not as good calibrated and too "blueish".
Dont hate me for that, but our eyes are used to the 6/6s screens for 2 years and its obvious the warmer, right calibrated iP7 seems too yellow.

Another thing is, the 25% more Brightness is only achieved in Auto-Brightness mode under extreme light conditions.
The 25% more brightness is NOT achievable in manual settings.
The reason behind that is simple. Save battery life.

Just wanted to share this information.
If you still think theres something wrong with your phone, go exchange it. We all have 1 year warranty.

Right now at the moment 2 of my friends are expected to get their 7's on thursday or friday.
I will compare with both of those. Then I will finally know if something is wrong or its just our habit fooling us.

Again with displaymate! Thanks so much!

There are two panels! One is good one is bad. Read the thread for more info. There is not just one panel.

Here's mine. My eyes have adjusted to the yellow now. Whenever I go back to my 6 it seems too blue but nonetheless still going to Apple tomorrow

Not sure what exactly caused the yellow tint, but the bottom part of the screen is much worse.

But yes, even the good panel has warmer color, but yellow tint issue isn't one of them.

Something is definitely going wrong with the supplier. I wonder if Apple trying to increase production on launch dates by using other cheaper manufactures. It usually like this whenever Apple's product first launch, but eventually disappear from the later purchases.

Remember guys who are on the upgrade program doing exchanges. They will return the phone and make you resign up putting in your Social. Can be a hassle.

It is coming and unfortunate, RETURN-GATE! :)

Problem is will they have the one you want when you do so.

I just got my iPhone 7 Plus and was disappointed to find it was also a bit dim and yellow compared to my iPhone 6S Plus. I had read somewhere if you switch to "zoomed" view in Display & Brightness, the dimming seems to go away. I tried this and to my surprise, it seemed to work. I think switched back to "standard" and while browsing in Safari, I noticed the screen auto-dimmed (I have auto-brightness off). So I went back to Zoomed view and then back to standard. Brightness on the display is about the same as my iPhone 6S Plus.

Side by side the iPhone 7 Plus's display looks more on the natural side.

Attached is a picture of my 6s Plus compared to my 7 Plus. I have compared side by side in both a dark room and outside to see if it made a difference. In the end I could not get the 7 to get as bright and the colors didn't seem to pop as much as the 6s.

Planning to go to Apple next week (earlier if I can) to compare to the display models and have it looked at.

You know, I almost think the iP7 has the True Tone display from the iPad Pro. As far as I know it wasn't advertised, but it seems to me like the white point on my iP7 definitely shifts. I was just outside walking in direct sunlight and it looked noticeably yellow. I came inside, under fluorescent lighting and it looks much cooler now. That sounds very indicative of the True Tone display.

I had the same experience today. Outside, my screen looked yellow with or without auto-brightness on, but when I came indoors, it was back to the usual white - a warmer white than my 6S, but not yellow.

Can anyone post pictures of their iPhone 7, that doesn't have the yellow tint, comparing it to their previous device.

Matte black iphone 7 at full brightness. Screen is perfect to my eyes but the screen protector refracts some light / color. Haven't seen info yet on what factories these phones with yellow screens come from, if it even matters. But yeah, all of us should not settle for piss yellow screens. The 1st two characters of my serial number are F4.

Your screen looks perfect. My serial number starts with F4 also. My screen is pretty even, but a warmer white than yours. It looks pink when I photograph it so I haven't put any photos on. I'm happy with it.

I like Kre62's hypothesis that during ramp up for launch, Apple needs to push the envelop trying to source enough parts to to meet demand (and it's still not enough!)- loosening up on the tolerance range for panels..

I played around with this but it's impossible to get just right. It's still just a tint. And besides it doesn't changes the brightness issue. It's a good temporary compromise tho!

What did set the hue and intensity level to? I have my hue at about 60% and intensity about 10%.

I will still exchange my iPhone but like you said it is a decent temporary compromise.

Not sure what this adds to the discussion, but thought it was interesting myself: Below are my 7 (on the left), my wife's 6s and my 9.7 iPad pro. All are at full brightness. The 1st picture is with my iPad Pro with "true tone" set to "off". The 2nd is with "true tone" turned "on" my iPad pro. The 7 and 6s are indistinguishable to my eye. Both seem to be on the "bluish" end of the spectrum. Perhaps the 7 is a "tad" bit warmer....but not much. So, there are definitely some 7's that have the same "color cast" as the 6s..

Note: This picture was taken in a pitch black room with only the iPhone displays lighting the photo. Not sure how this impacted the "true tone" on my 9.7. Nevertheless, the 7 and 6s are pretty much indistinguishable!

In my experience, the yellow is caused by fresh glue, and usually goes down a bit over the course of a few weeks.

Nope, and never been the case. Already thoroughly debunked in this thread. Theres no glue used. Sadly, this old myth gets recycled every year.

My 7+ is also warmer then my 6+ but I do not believe this is because of a defective display. It's calibrated this way for accuracy. It is also notably brighter then my 6+. Warmer colors are also easier on the eyes.

Notice how the two 7's match and the 6 on the left is more blue. It is the nature of the display and not a defect.

Choosing to ignore the countless phones in this thread where people have gotten the non-warm display? Thats fine if you are ok with your phone but dont tell people it's supposed to be that way.

Pretty much the same here (tried about 60 and then 80 with intensity low) but I went back to default and turned it off after a while. It messed up all the colors.

At least yours are as bright as the 6. Mine is more dimmed in addition to not being uniform.

Why would people calibrated their TV's, computer monitors or phones to show a yellow display?

So some people believe some of iPhone 7 phones are calibrated to show yellow screen? And the other iPhone 7 phones are not calibrated showing really white screen?

That some are the yellow screens are true color but are eyes don't see it that way.
