1. magsafe 2 adapter. You'll find yourself w/o your charger (especially since the battery last so long) and can't just plug into a regular magsafe power supply without this. Also good if you have extra older power supplies.

2. Thunderbolt>ethernet or usb3>ethernet adapter.

3. Video adapters (hdmi>dvi, minidisplayport>vga)

4. Microfiber cloth for cleaning the screen

5. Portable usb3 drive for backups (2 partitions: 1-time machine, 2-superduper or ccc)

1. External Monitor
2. Caldigit TB dock
3. Apple keyboard + Wireless Trackpad
4. mStand
5. Charger

With a single TB cable plugged you just turned your MBP to a desktop replacement.
Unplug a single cable and you're ready to go.

Really interesting.
I'm not gonna need a desktop for at least 6 months and quite a lot of accessories are to do with them.
So basically seems like I need a bag and ext drive
What's the slimmest messenger bag out there and was the best ext drive out there for slimness again!

Also interesting none of you mentioned any Insuarance like AppleCare....

These are mine:

1. Hardshell.
2. Neoprene sleeve.
3. External (Bluetooth) mouse.
4. 1password.
5. Dropbox.

There are many others, mainly apps that I consider essential to my everyday use, but you only asked for five.

Belkin Thunderbolt dock.

With it I only have two cables plugged into my rMBP: thunderbolt to the belkin, and power. Hides away 3 USB 3.0, a FW800, ethernet, audio... everything.
