Maybe the reaction to that kind of thread title is similar to what one thinks when seeing a link to 'Check out my teen bedroom webcam'. The first thought that jumps to mind these days, unfortunately, is not always the most proper one, perhaps.

I'll assume (perhaps naively) that this will go well, but it's being watched. Nothing wrong with pics of your bedrooms, per se, but it could become an issue. We'll see.

Anyways, later today (probably more like tomorrow) I'll get around to posting pictures. I should probably clean it up first since nobody's interested in looking at pics of piles of clothes.

Cause all the elders around here will be like. Why is your room bigger than mine, why do you have a bigger bed, why do you have your own bathroom and a bigger closet. Blah Blah Blah. You all are so spoiled, when you grow up and meet the real world, you are going to suffer and waste all your money on frivolous purchases.

That's different. I'm not gonna suddenly jump into one of those pics I've posted after a shower am I?

As long as you don't post a picture of yourself, or pictures of your underwear lying around, I don't see what the problem is...

Wow, this thread is heavily edited. Every time I look something has changed.

I guess I'll get the ball rolling again. My room as you can see is very drab. I want to change the wall color, but mother and father say no. This room was supposed to be a guest bedroom, it ended up being my sisters, she's in college so its mine now. It is slightly smaller than the master bedroom with a smaller bathroom and closet. Sorry if the pics are big.

Room Sizes:
Bedroom: 221 sq ft
Bathroom: 82.5 sq ft
Closet: 60.5 sq ft
Total: 364 sq ft

I KNOW!!!

Well actually, she couldn't find an frame, and she didn't want to spend $500 at a framing store for that. I was quite amazed. She herself took that tack thing and pushed into the perfectly smooth sheet rock. She probably feels like her house is ruined.

When I was little, I could never have any toys in the family room because it was a "formal living room". :(

Thanks. There's a couple of things I'm wanting to do...

. Sell all the hifi (except the speakers) and get a B&O BeoSystem 5500
. Paint all the walls white
. Replace the bed with a funky sofabed
. Get a minifridge
. Get a retractable pole for women

Now THAT would be a bedroom, unfortunately, I think only the first three will be possible, possibly four at a push...

i've already posted this in the cribs thread i think.

i'll be moving to a new apartment in about half a month, though. my bedroom there is a lot smaller, unfortunately. i'm not sure how i'll make room for everything. i might end up wall-mounting the lcd if the landlord lets me, and cramming a lot of stuff into the closets. my bathroom will be attached to the room instead of across the hall though.

WOW. EVERY ROOM in this thread is super clean and tidy. Mine looks like a hurrican just passed by. Socks in my desk, shirts in my tv, McDonalds bag from last weekend still somewhere on the floor. 20 dirty unused cups, soda cans, and etc.

I don't think anybody here would care to see it but mine actually looks like a teenager's room although it is a little above that I would suppose.

Either you all have maids or you're not really a normal teenager. None of the people I know have such tidy rooms like these. The only thing that is common is our mothers yelling at us about cleaning the room. I doubt any of you have ever heard that from your mother.

To the OP, that is an awesome room! I love the ceilings and it is super clean. I love the lack of clutter. Is this a converted attic?

Cause all the elders around here will be like. Why is your room bigger than mine, why do you have a bigger bed, why do you have your own bathroom and a bigger closet. Blah Blah Blah. You all are so spoiled, when you grow up and meet the real world, you are going to suffer and waste all your money on frivolous purchases.
That is a crappy way of speaking generally about everyone over 18. I am an elder as you like to refer to it and I do not have that thought at all. Frankly my dear, I do not care what your parents buy you or don't buy you. Don't lump everyone under the same close-minded idea. Isn't it ironic that you gripe about what the "elders" will say while producing your own generalization of people all on your own? It's just bad form really.

I do not find you spoiled if you have a lot of nice things...you're no better or worse than anyone else. What you have in life doesn't define you, it's how you use it that will. So make me one of the few that doesn't think you're spoiled and let the kids have fun.

In CT you have to be 21 to purchase it, and you can drink it at any age as long as your parents/guardians give it to you. So like my friends mom couldn't give it to me.

I do not live in my room like some of you people. If i wanted to I could really live in my room. There are 2 unused minifridges in the basement, I have my connected bathroom so that I never will have to venture into the hallway. I can also do dishes in there. I can bring up a spare microwave or an electric teapot and I can live on Raman. I would only come out to go to costco to buy bulk packages of Raman and Bayer (to help prevent me from having a heart attack or stroke from eating all that Raman.

I don't see how people can stay cooped up in their room all day. Don't you ever want to get some fresh air, or do something other than sitting on your butt watching TV or using the internet 24/7.

By "living" in my room, I do mean this as all the time I spend in my house, I usually spend in my room. Please don't mistake me for some kind of sloth...

Amen to that. Though sometimes weather and school keep me inside, I'd much rather go outside with a friend. Or at least hang out downstairs with my family.

I guess i have to explain it thouroughly (sp?) to everyone. In normal bedrooms, not studio apartments, NORMAL, REAL, houses, in BEDROOMS. I think it is....lameif you are so lazy you can't go to the fridge you need a mini fridge in your room...same with the TV, just go to the livingroom or something. Either you all have maids or you're not really a normal teenager. None of the people I know have such tidy rooms like these. The only thing that is common is our mothers yelling at us about cleaning the room. I doubt any of you have ever heard that from your mother.

Hah! My mom knows the "tidiness" potential of my room. So if I flake off every once in a while, or some exposed wires (God forbid), I will be scolded to clean my room.

Bed -- must be made. Dust -- must be wiped down. Articles -- must be in their proper places.

It is not so much as to strict, as to a personal preference. When I am told to clean my room, it actually *never* enforced.

Do you carry all that in your pockets at once?!

lol. I actually do, and more. Hah! You are forgetting the Purrell to keep my hands sanitised, The bluetooth hands-free headset for the phone, and occassionally a digital camera. My various pockets are huge!

I actually got the shelves at Bed Bath and Beyond for about 25 U$D each. They might be out of commission now, but they are branded with the name Vertigo shelves.

As for tips, I can't say much. Simply make your own accessories, and use what you have. Instead of buying a 50 U$D Candle Hurricane from Pottery Barn, buy the glass, and sand, and candle separately from Michaels for only $10 U$D Total. Instead of buying artificial silk palm plant for 200 U$D, buy a real living Palm tree for 12 U$D at Home Depot.

This is my room. It was supposed to be the guest bedroom but it ended up being my sisters and then mine when she went off to college. It's pretty big, nice big closet, my parents kinda cheaped out on the bathroom though. Its not bad but not as nice as my old bathroom. Who cares though, I have my own bathroom lol. Some people think its too adult like, I happen to agree.

I want to buy some new furniture so it all matches better. I really want to get rid of that white thing that was my sisters but my parents refuse to let me move it "because there is nowhere to put it". IMO it can go in the trash or in our 2000sq ft basement that has plenty of room.

Eric, nice room -

First off, nice lax stick.

Second:

You seem like you want to improve your room. Maybe I could help, I grew up around design...

Loose the nick-nacks (move the tissues to your bathroom, get rid of unneeded things, like that christmas tree, white box under your desk, red thing above the window - less is more.)
Get a new lamp for your nightstand
Purchase a new office chair
New matching bedding (or at least dump the blue plaid blanket at the end of the bed)
Get rid of that unneeded wood chair next to the white bookshelf

Hopefully this will help. You already have a sick room as it is but the above should cost very little (and a trip to Target) and will improve your room greatly.

I am thinking the same things- DEF new chair, new nightstand, new lamp definately, new bookshelf, ditch the corner thing and put in some type of "credenza" (I dunno if thats the word I am looking for) (with a nice LCD TV would be SICK). I also want to get rid of that little desk. I am planning on buying new bedding in a couple weeks.

Its just that I didn't have the $800 to spend when I bought it. ;) Overall, its a wonderful TV, albeit only 720p.

Some pics of my bedroom. It's been this way for about a year. Sorry for the bad image quality. I just took these with my RAZR.

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/5903/0413071508fw4.jpg

The bed, front window, and night stand (with iHome). Yes, I know there's a teddy bear thing there. It's from my grandma and my mom insists I keep it out. I should've taken it away for the photo though. :D

My desk. There's a ton of useless stuff on it that I should clean out sometime. Hopefully a nice Macbook will be sitting there within the next year. :)

Figured I might as well join in...

This is actually my living room (since the only thing in my bedroom is a mattress... just moved...); but it's still my own room -- I just moved out to my own apartment! :-D

The first photo makes it look much more cluttered than it does in person... ah, well.

Yeah, the video production business is still going well... I finished High School a semester early, so it's been full steam ahead with the business... at least until I start college.
