I hope so, and i vaguely remember there was going to be more than 1 movie.
Maybe the movies will force it back on the air. I can dream

I hope this will be enough advance for the producers/writers to get some closure into it before the season ends. Unlike say Firefly which was cancelled after the first season had already been aired...

Hang on a sec. The article says:
SCI FI Channel is proud to be the network that brought Stargate SG-1 to its record-breaking 10th season. Ten seasons and 215 episodes is an astounding, Guinness World Record-setting accomplishment. We just saw episode #200. That means there's 15 more episodes to go... which makes it sound like we get one more season after the current one... unless the current season is going to stretch on for four more months.

That makes sense...they have about 20 episodes per season, and "200" was the sixth episode of Season Ten.
Edit: List of episodes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Stargate_SG-1_episodes_without_spoilers)...getting pretty close to 215 on that list.

I must be getting confused by some of these short seasons we're getting for shows nowadays... it seems like the current season of The 4400 started just seven or eight weeks ago, for example, and it ends this weekend.
I guess we can assume that the Ori will be defeated, if Stargate Atlantis is going to continue and SG:1 isn't... unless, of course, Earth is conquered and the folks at Atlantis have to soldier on without any more help from our galaxy.

The Earth is destoyed and the team from Atlantis are the last Earthlings left in the universe. Tapping and Judge have probably had enough, but I kinda feel bad for Browder, Black, and Doig. Shanks is god to the fans so I doubt he'd disappear again. Maybe he could accend again. Bridges is already a movie star so...
Kinda rediculous. Aren't both shows suffering a ratings slump this year? Isn't SG1-1 only like a quarter of a point behind Atlantis? SciFi needs to get it's @#$% together. Is there anything else worth watching besides Battlestar?

Judge is never going to have it as good as he has it now. Sorry, but he's doing the one role that's really his. Any other time I see him, I'm going to go "Oh, there's Teal'c."
Tapping... mmm... I would love to tap Tapping, if you know what I mean (and I think you do). :p
Browder and Black will undoubtedly surface on YASFSotSFC (Yet Another Sci-Fi Series on the Sci-Fi Channel). Claudia is really far too hot to stay cooped up on TV shows, though... I'd love to see her in films (like Pitch Black).
Doig was never a main character and has been gone this entire season. Anyway, she and Shanks are married, so as long as he's working...
But yeah, beyond the two SG shows and Doctor Who, all that I really care about on SFC is Battlestar Galactica. It can't get here soon enough.

Yes, the first half of the season runs July-September, and the second half of the season runs January-March.
I'm happy and sad. Sad that the series is ending, but happy that I can stop taping episodes. (I've only missed one so far, since it started.)

Does Atlantis become amazing in it's second season? Because season one isn't all that impressive.Atlantis is pretty good, but they've started recycling enemies who were previously vanquished in SG:1 a while back... for example, two weeks ago, we were introduced to human-form replicators in the Pegasus Galaxy. Since there's not an Ancient weapon (that we know of) like the Dakara weapon, and no simultaneous-Gate dialing program (helpfully provided by Baal), the Atlantis folks will have to come up with a new tactic to defeat these "new" replicators... not to mention, the Wraith and Genii threats still exist.
I do like Torri Higginson more than I like Amanda Tapping, though... had the hots for Torri ever since she was on TekWar.

I haven't yet seen that episode, but I always thought the replicators would be an effective weapon against the Wraith. They still need to find a way to stop the replicators, though. ;)

Honestly.... good! I DO like SG-1 but somewhere around season 3 or 4 I just got fed up with all the filler (too many time travel and "virus" episodes). 10 seasons is just so long. I'd rather see the plot go somewhere in a reasonable amount of time.
But that's just me.
p.s. BSG kicks fracking butt (but I hope they don't drag it out that long ;) ).

Save the gate!
Save the my favorite TV show!
SAVE WALTER!!!!!!!!!!!
Cooper, the shows producer, says that he will try to get Sci-Fi to reverse the decision, or atleast move it to another network. If the worse does happen and the show does end, I hope they end it big like Voyager, close the Ori theme, and find Merlin's weapon, possibly shove all those goodies into a feature movie.

or atleast move it to another network.
It already moved over from Showtime to syndication to Scifi, but I guess it could move back to syndication where they're still showing reruns. Doubt it though. I'm a little sad because I'm a fan of the show, but I have a friend who's going to go insane. Looking forward to the movie, if one exists, and maybe some new things on Atlantis.
I've missed a few eps here and there, but it's usually a fun show.

What is ironic is that SG1 has always been given the news that each season after season 5 was their last, Richard Dean Anderson wanted out after 6 and the ending was to lead into a movie. Didn't happen, the movie was cancelled and season 7 was made. Then it happened all over again for season 8 and season 9 didn't look to hopeful either.
Now its in its 10th season, they actually planned a season 11 and it DOES get cancelled, here's hoping MGM can find another outlet for the show since they want to continue with it. It is their biggest franchise after their Bond series.
Failing that, wouldn't it be cool if they continued to make the series but just release it on DVD and iTunes, that would definately show how strong the show is without a channel hosting it always trying to move it around or change its lineup against other programs.
At the moment ALL the episodes on iTunes are in the top 100 video listed.

I part of me will die when SG-1 ends. I have been watch since I first saw it on FOX almost a decade ago. Nothing made me happier then to see a TV show made after a movie I loved.
I can think of some creative words I would like to say to sci-fi right now. I never got into Atlantis, but I am going to try giving the alternative of no gate travel. Beside news, SG-1 is the only thing I really watch. Though when I was at A&M in 01' and saw farscape, I would skip class for my fix. They crapped that up to. I have yet to finish the farscape series.
I have a good filling that Jackson will be going to atlantis. I just hope they finish the ori plot. Damn them to hell if they don't.

i really think, while it's one of my 3 or 4 favorite shows, it's time for SG-1 to end.. it's been a long, great run, and a movie or two would bring great closure to a fantastic series. (especially if they can get Richard Dean Anderson back for them...)

Of course, Dead Like Me is another wonderful series that was cancelled too soon. Sci-Fi is just showing the reruns. (Dead Like Me was also filmed at the same studios where SG-1 & Atlantis are filmed.)
Aeolius: I'm not in love with BSG either, but for some reason I keep watching it, hoping I'll find something to like about it. I guess I could say I like the special effects.

What season did you get up to? You should really finish watching the rest of the series and Peacekeeper Wars. I finally finished watching last week. I just discovered Farscape last fall when it got syndicated on late night tv. I've been buying the Starburst Edition DVDs since December. Got to the second to last volume at the beginning of this month and couldn't wait for the final volume to be released in October. So I broke down and bought the older more expensive editions of the episodes I was missing along with the Peacekeeper Wars. After that I needed more Browder/Black so I imported the season 9 of SG-1 from the UK.
I was hoping Fargate would satisfy my Farscape withdrawl for a few years, but I guess it wasn't ment to be.
I wonder how much of the cast can sneek into Atlantis.

No, they can't release it all on iTunes because I don't have broadband and I FRAKKIN' LOVE SG-1!!!!
I hope, that if this is true, somehow some of the current crew members would move to Atlantis.
Vala, oh Vala, how I love you. I like Atlantis, and it has gotten better over time, just like SG-1. It was a little shaky in the beginning, you have to admit, but that's practically all shows. I'm glad my FOX station stopped re-running season 1 of Atlantis and started showing season 2 because I swear, I saw the Genii episodes at least 5 times. They are also replaying season 8, I think, of SG-1 which is good.
I hope they get renewed. I can't live without it, and BSG.

The problem with having so many channels showing the same programs these days, is it's hard to figure out which channel you're watching a show on, and whether it's chronologically ahead of or behind the last one you watched. I'm watching 2 shows a night (Sky One here, after midnight), but have no idea which series it is - Jonas has been in the show, and Jackson is back, though I missed the episode where that was fully explained! Anyone know which series that is?
Whichever, it seems the production quality was greatly improved that season, the general cinematography and 'score' is generally feature-film quality.
On another (offtopic) note, since someone mentioned BSG, I just checked to see when season II is out here, and according to HMV it's out today! I missed most episodes when they were broadcast - is the second season worth buying as a box set?

I hope that this doesn't happen. They will ruin Atlantis. I am loving that show right now and the part I love is that it's totally fresh. Sure, it's fun when Carter comes to play w/Rodney and his doohickeys, but not so fun if she or any of the other original cast remained there.
It's time for Stargate's sunset. I've watched it since I was a wee lttl one and do love it, but I don't want to see the downward spiral it is going on continue. I remember the series when you watched an episode and were awed...now...not so much. Atlantis still has that (this year's series has just had some FANTASTIC eps) and to pull in the old cast members I think would diminish that.

I hope this isnt the last of Stargate sg-1 on tv.
why? it is entertaining, even if it isnt like the richard Dean Anderson years.
also the show is more popular now than ever internationally. they have huge audiences. so the Money from overseas can help the show continue.
All they need is a USA domestic network to continue airing it.... then they will be allright.

stargate still awes me now as this Ori saga is exactly like any other religion of the past here. That is what makes this saga so special is that it is just like the crusades of the catholics, killing everyone that wasn't a catholic and wouldn't become a catholic.
It connects very well with the history of the earth and that is why it is so amazing. Something so different, can be so true and historical somewhat.

Explain to me how its not a real movie? That's silly that you think just because it doesn't go to a theatre that its not real. I'm sure the cast and crew all call it the Stargate Movie - not the wanna-be-Stargate-Movie, the almost-Stargate-Movie, etc.

I feel bookending the series is an excellent way to end it. Here's a serise that has managed to last 10 years and still manage to get better. It's time for its story to end - as much as my selfish mind wants to see more. Besides, the Tau'ri were getting too powerful - as hinted at in "200". Now the writiers had to pull out anti-ancients to go up against, I mean, who's next?
