Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum

written by Robert Lewis Stevenson 1881*

Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest*
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil be done for the rest*
Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum

The mate was fixed by the bos’n’s pike
The bos’n’ brained with a markin spike and*
Cookey’s throat was marked belike It
Had been gripped by fingers ten and*
There they lay all good dead men like

Break o’ day in a boozing ken...
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Fifteen men of a whole ship’s list*
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist!*
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

The skipper lay with his nob in gore where the*
Scullion’s axe his cheek had shore
And the scullion he was stabbed times four and*
There he lay and the soggy skies
Dripped all day in up-staring eyes at
Murk sunset and at foul sur-prise***

Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum
Fifteen men of ‘em stiff and stark*
Yo hoe hoe crew had the murder mark*
Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum

‘Twas a cutlass swipe or and ounce of lead or a*
Yawning hole in a battered head
and the scuppers glut with a yawning red and*
There they lay aye damn my eyes
All lookouts clapped on par - a - dise all
Souls bound just con – tra – ri - wise***
Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum

Fifteen men of ‘em good and true*
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Every man Jack could ha’ sailed with old Pew*
Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum

There was chest on chest of Spanish gold with a*
Ton of plate in the middle hold
And the cabins riot with stuff un told As*
They lay there that had took the plum
With a sightless glare and their lips struck dumb
While we shared all by the rule of thumb**

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Fifteen men of a dead man’s chest*
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest*
Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum

We wrapped ‘em all in a mains’l tight with*
Twice ten turns of a hausers bight
And we heaved ‘em over and out of sight with a*
Yo heave ho and fare you well
And a sullen plunge in a sullen swell
Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell**
Yo hoe hoe and a bottle of rum

Argh...

Lets not forget what it took for team Mac OS X had to go through just to get this far... Granted their app is nice, they would be nowhere without the publicity they gained, and the fact that everybody who downloads their app, and doesn't put their own team number in, or erase the one for team Mac OS X, is unknowingly giving points to them...

If possible, though, I might be able to add a few machines to the cause... I don't know if they're hooked up to the internet, and I'd have to ask some people first, but it's a possibility... Now, if I could get through the ITS thing at my university that wipes everything that isn't supposed to be installed on the computer, I would 1.) be promptly kicked out of school, and 2.) would have an enormous amount of computing power at my disposal (we're talking about more than a thousand computers here...)

It would be nice, but I'm sure that my university would have a slight problem with it... You just don't mess with the school's computers...

I warned you all that we would be back when you taunted us on the way by. 9 days and my prediction will come true.

I am hearing a lot of false information and sour grapes though.

We DO NOT install folding on machines that do not belong to us without permission. That is against stated team rules.

We DO NOT have a program on any form of OS install CD that install by default when you load OS X.

And those whining about InCrease and its deafult setting need to get a hobby. The program was written for our team, and we will not alter it because other wish to use it for theirs. If you want an installer that works the way you want it, write one and stop whining about ours. It is unbecoming.

MrMacMan, don't cry, fold! You want to keep ahead of us, then do it! Don't call names, call your friends. Don't complain about how we have all the breaks (which we did not), find some breaks of your own. It took us hard work to get back to where we are, we could not ask our parent website to post links on the front page to get us new folders.

All i have to say now is, See you in 9 days.

Remember what it took the MacRumors team to displace Team Mac OSX from their #1 Mac spot not so long ago--lots of PCs. Apparently, a lot of those PCs were used without permission; otherwise, they'd probably still be folding for this team.

MacRumors was way down the list behind Team Mac OSX and MacAddict at # 33 (35 overall) for the longest time. As there were bigger numbers, more people loaded folding for one or two work units and the team got somewhere. It's still pretty amazing that we got so far.

It's too bad that people are willing to point fingers instead of looking in the mirror first.

We DO NOT have a program on any form of OS install CD that install by default when you load OS X.

First off, IT IS NOT ON THE OS X INSTALL CD. I challenge any to find it there.

Second off, IT IS NOT ON THE OS X INSTALL CD. (Repeated for those who seem to think that I am lying, or stuttering ;) ) That was a rumor started by The Knights who Say Ni! Are you going to take their word over anyone elses?

Third off, I am aware that you have a folding installer, so use your installer and stop complaining about ours.

There, that was easy. Now, come and get us! We are going to whip by you pretty fast, but if you time it just right you should be able to draft off us enough to make it interesting. I would hate for it to be any less challenging than when we fought with SPCR for lead position! :D

The thread does not revolve around you, there are others being addressed as well. ;)

No -- You did one better you got posted on apple.com (Good Job by the way).
And your own team members are only creating the rumors about InCrease on the panther CD's which are of coarse untrue.

I had to work hard to get posted on Apple.com. Took over 6 months of hard work. How hard is it to get your link on the front page? I doubt it even approaches that level of effort. The two do not compare.

And as for the CD rumor, it started at KWSN, we salpped it down. Another on your team brought it up, we slapped it down, it keeps coming up, and now we are just making fun of any who would believe such a sill thing is true. We are not spreading any rumors...

Your members have stated before that 'well you have your own installer that defaults to #3446' but it doesn't. This was to point out that yours does however.

So what? How is that germane to my post? Use your installer, I would prefer it. Less noise that way. We are not looking to steal anything from anyone, we are looking to excel at folding! If you think that InCrease is going to take your processor without your permission, DON'T USE IT. otherwise, read the install instructions and take a second to put in your team number. It is hardly a hidden option. :p

Remember people, this is supposed to be fun! If you are not having fun, go have a drink or watch some TV and come back, perhaps things will be looking up. We are mostly trying to spur the teams we are passing to greater efforts, it works for some and not for others. You choose which you will be. We will see you in 8 days! :D

Renegades, rebels and rogues
Eyes of fire, hearts of gold

Honestly, no other teams have had a problem with what's going on here in this thread. I've visited the other forums on our 'to do' list and committed similar 'crimes'. They have all had a fun time with it. Ask Rower_CPU he can point you in the right direction. Maybe you should take a seat and relax. Here's one for you.

Our first VIP is known as The Foldinator, maybe you recognize him?! :p He swore he'd be back when you passed us the first time, and y'all should have listened to him!

20th Ranked Folder in the World

someone's sig needs a little editing....

Let's see what Stanford says. Nope. Sig is fine, for now.

19 Scott_H 849479 23963 2654
20 Christian_Bargmann 824122 21202 1971
21 Wedo 795964 28452 32

Of course I will have to modify it on:

05.26.04, 7am / 4 Days

To include 'Team MacOS X - The #1 Mac Folding Team in the World'. Oh! I LOVE the sound of that. Rolls right off the tongue! Of course, many members here will have to change THEIR sigs, not to mention the recruiting threads, etc. If you want, I can probably help find all of them for you! ;)

And here we have yet another VIP joining the party! You might recognize him from 'Raiders of the Lost Fold'. I think his real name is Harrison Fold! But you can call him 'Foldy'. Aye 'tis true!

I e-mailed Jason Rabel (head of F@H stats on EO) and he said that #2 (which I had stated in my email) represented anonymous users, and that #4 represented "_" according to Stanford. However, "_" cannot be found on http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userstats but only at a link he sent me, http://vspx27.stanford.edu/daily_user_summary.txt

This effectively places you in 21st.

A search for "_" on the donor stats page brings up this:

http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userpage&username=%5F

"_" appears to be a default that is set on some version of the client, where anonymous is now the current defualt (based on the # of processors working for each).

So, you are in 21st, not 20th.

Let's see. I click F@h homepage. Go to stats link. Then to donator statistics. And I find myself here (http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userstats) . For some unfortunate reason they have me listed at 20th. It's crazy I tell you! The same damn thing happened on my driver's license. They always tell me I'm 20lbs heavier than I really am! His sig says "20th ranked folder". Are you suggesting 'anonymous' is a single person? I think it may be made up of several different folders. Which means even by your list, he is the 20th ranked folder.

NoahJ
May 22, 2004, 10:21 PM
2 things, about the whole anonymous and _ folder deal. They are both anonymous, and so would count as the same "person". Pande just changed their minds at some point and went with anonymous instead from what you were saying. But why flog a dead horse? One must admit, he has impressive folding power whether at 20, 21 or otherwise... ;)

There was a bit of nose rubbing, but hey, all it did was get our team all fired up so that we had to produce more to get the spot back. In the end we all won as both Mac Teams took a higher standing in the stats.

Also: 05.26.04, 8am / 3 Days :D

It's not that kind of app. It doesn't double your speed as much as it makes it easy to put folding on other computers. It's a small Windows MSI file that has my folding config in it. It says that it hasn't installed by the end of the installation, but it actually has. It runs invisibly, and doesn't show up in the running applications window. It also doesn't show up in the add/remove programs window. I work for the gov't so we have alot of computers that need something to do in their spare time. Over 6000 boxes are kicking around here, and we are working on getting it running on as many as they will let us. It's really up to each department wheather or not they let us use them, so some are not letting us on. Alot of them are though, which means mad folding stats are on the way!

It is usually the respectful thing to do. Sorry, I did not realize this is the MacRumper Room. I'm sure you have to send lots of notes to concerned parents, so what was one more? Though I do seem to recall other 'politcal' postings that seem to have slipped through the cracks somehow. I have quite a strong political stance... however, I don't express it unless other people express theirs... mostly because no-one really cares...

I suppose I should apologize to you cjc343. You are probably feeling somewhat 'hot and bothered' at present given your past history.

I know I am going to offend some of you, but I just want to make a suggestion.....

There are currently 4 macintosh folding teams. Maccentral, Macaddict, Macrumors, and Mac OS X. I was going to join the MacAddict team, but before I did, I quickly looked at all the other teams that had made it into the top 100.

I wanted to support a Mac team, and I decided in the end to join the MacRumors team, why? because they were in 18th place.

We are constantly trying to gain levels, and I would like to encourage you to join the MacRoumors team so that we can hopefully put a Mac team in the top 10.

I hope you decide to switch.

Feel free to flame me, but I am not going to do anything more than this one post.

That was dated Tue Mar 23, 2004 3:29 pm at the MacAddict forums. Your dreams and aspirations can still be fulfilled! WE indeed shall put a Mac team in the top 10! Viva la differance! :D

Why should I be "hot and bothered"?

Past history is not proper english because both of the words have the same meaning.

I would join Team Mac OS X when they pass MacRumors except for one problem... their top folder is rude. Maybe you all have a better sense of community among yourselves, but you sure don't express that to the people who you are hoping to have join your team. The message I posted was not in any way rude, it stated the facts, and left it at that.

Now, the representatives that have come from Team Mac OS X, have taunted us and been rude in general, if it weren't for that, you would have the power of my 5 computers (yes I know it says 4 right now, one of them is new to Folding) working for your team. Keep that in mind next time you pass us.

We probably overtake you guys in a couple of months again when the heat is over of your app that installs itself on every new mac, without the poor people knowing about it!

Did this guy seen to many pirates movies and fell on his head after he seen one?!?!?

Its ego boosting.

http://www.whatacharacter.com/g-o/g0100013.jpg

Just GO and LEAVE.

Now we have a fruitcake who thinks he is a pirate and some way to serious bloke. This is getting bored sooooo soon.

i suggest adding mustang mac to your ignore list

that way this thread becomes much more stomachable

NoahJ -- I don't read my private messages, and I really don't care.
What are you going to say 'I wasn't talking only to you?' yea yea... whatever.

Also that pirate thing is really stupid, makes you all look like idiots.

someone's sig needs a little editing....

Sailfish -- Really nice post, with the spamming of the same stuff over and over, real nice there.

Sooo, we finally see your real face. DAMN, that's ugly...

let's keep this assschmear known as Mustang Mac full of meaningless taunt replies...

All in proper chronological order. I apologize for not giving credit to your team members where credit is due for each post. Sorry I have been so rude. Keep on folding on! Science and humanity thanks you for it. :)

Again, I apologize. I almost forgot.

Past history is not proper english because both of the words have the same meaning.

It is proper english in the context it was used. Some examples.

Background Paper. Pediatric Cancer Survivors: Past History and Future Challanges

Pleural Effusion in a Diver with a Past History of Major Trauma

Designer drugs: past history and future prospects

It is still not using proper english to say past history.

Designer drugs: History and Future Prospects

This would be correct usage of "Past - History" but that is different from "Past History" because the hyphen seperates the two into different thoughts.

Aye matey! And we all know how resourceful ya be!

I don't care, go ahead and overtake us! I'm off to make friends with the manager at the local Best Buy.... see you all later...

(after that I head to Circuit City, and then Frys, and then the OTHER Best Buy, and then to PC World, and then to Jamba Juice for a break, and to see if I can install something on the cash registers, and then I go to the local MUG and force everyone to Fold, and after that I find Christian Bergmann and make him switch over from Team Mac OS X to Macrumors....)

Shiver me timbers!

LOL, not again. :p

We went over this a while back, Fritz - some stats pages include the aggregate folders and some don't. As far as "real" folders go, he's still 20th.

By the way, did you just say "real folders" refering to Team MacOS X? No, I must be mistaken again... ;)
