from what i've heard it's not good to use your 360 as a TV stand. just a heads up. i don't know if it really damages it though because an indent on the case

Yeah maybe its not the best way but the TV is not heavy and the console have much space behind so;
Then I install the games on the HD.

I guess that when you put that big a screen, monitor and speakers so close to each other like that.. it won't get really minimalistic. ;)
Nice setup tho, but too crowded for me.

I would try to relocate the speakers... it is to crowded with 'em sitting on the desk. But it is easy to say that. I don't really have a suggestion on a better place. If it is the minimalist/simplicity look you are going after, and you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket, I would look at a smaller set of speakers. Just a suggestion...

JBL creature speakers, a pair of home brew macally house FW hard drives (not in use), belkin USB hub serving the two mybooks off an airport extreme tucked under the desk.

I need to finish cleaning it up. I've got a ton of stuff in a small amount of space. trying to convince my wife we need a 24" LED cinema for her future college laptop.

Nice 17incher you got there. What are the specs? Also, what is that underneath it. I am looking to buy a 17" when they are released. Do you find it a bit daunting to carry, or is it fine? (I won't be carrying it out much, just on holidays, around the house etc).

i've seen the setup here and there...
basically everywhere..
i've asked before of how to get the old style keyboard...
the white ones..
and i got one..
i have an aluminum apple keyboard with numeric pad also..
both are great.. well IBM Model M keyboard is certainly better.. but hey..
but what still annoys me is that.. i cant seem to find keyboard with the correct keys..
i've just started using my mac as my development machine, i'm building some system as product now..
and i'm doing heavy coding..
the thing is.. on aluminum keyboard.. i cannot use my shortcut that i've developed in to muscle memory.. like f5 - step in, f6 - step over, f7 - step out, f8 - run...
because it's used for iTunes control..
but if i use the old style keyboard.. i cannot control iTunes which always stays in the background, i have to bring iTUnes to the foreground..
and it's a hassle..
i wish, there's a keyboard.. with complete iTunes stortcut..AND an FN key..
because the aluminum keyboard doesn't have the FM key..
or is there something else that i'm missing here?

i would try Sizzling Keys, which you can buy for only $5 USD. http://www.yellowmug.com/sk4it/

i had to have a wireless keyboard solution with a 10-key pad. apple doesn't make it in aluminum so i bought the white bluetooth keyboard off of eBay. k missed the "iTunes" keys so i bought that little program and you can program iTunes functions to pretty much any key. hope that helps.

I don't know how much help this is, but I used to use BowTie for that very reason. It gave me a set of user-definable keyboard shortcuts that I used to control iTunes. Additionally, my new Kinesis Freestyle has a Fn key that I am finding incredibly useful.

yeah.. i do notice the fn key..
it's just that it's not intuitive (for me, at least) anymore.
what i'd like is actually an apple keyboard.. like those microsoft keyboard..

What you see is all I have, besides a few iBooks and PowerBooks, not all operational. That PB G4 in the pic is hooked up to the monitor because the backlight is dead.I use it because it has 1GB of ram and a 1Ghz G4 processor.I do use my computers for work.Basic facebook groups and a web site I'm designing for my church youth group which is my everyday job.I'm an intern youth leader.

Ugh.... Back at school. Should be a good semester, though! I'm looking forward to most my classes, and I'm gonna get a lot of hands-on experience in the coming months.

Anyhoo, finally have most my stuff hooked back up!

My "main" setup:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4029/4290818185_18b98aec41_b.jpg

My "mobile" setup... this is my main computer for class, homework, etc:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2688/4291560484_b306f57131_b.jpg
.... probably should have busted out the SLR for that shot, lol. :p

And, this is my current work in progress. Everything works fine, except for some reason it's eating hard drives. If I can figure it out, I'd like to use this for my InDesign/Photoshop projects when away from my apartment... the 1920x1200 would come in handy.

This is my computer Desk handed down to me by my dad when i moved back into my parents place after my x girl friend who flat out dumped me. Krissie Pantone from wurtsboro NY selfishly left me for a crummy life of drinking booze at dive bar night clubs and smoking dirt weed with losers. I started out a heart broken bum sleeping on the floor of my parents two bed room condo in miami broke and alone. I almost attempted suicide once or twice. The only thing keeping me alive was music.

After i heard she was screwing other foreign men my desire to make something of myself was like a volcano ready to explode. I worked on music for years and years improving every time i created something new. The pain in my heart was my motivation for me to think in different ways and be more creative then i ever imagined. Now I make a living I have seen my art make it and vibed out to my music on the radio quite a few times. I bought my own place and drive a Black Lexus on 22's.

I have had women stalk me and Fans reach out to me from all over the world. The X girl friend over heard about my success and had the nerve to attempt to reconcile. The only words that came to mind were "My how the tables have turned" Krissie Pantone from wurtsboro NY thanks for dumping me and giving me the motivation to make something of myself and teach me a life lesson that you can do anything you set your mind to. With out goals we are lost in life.

So as for my lights,They fade different colors. I bought these little baby air fresheners off of the ebay. I then bashed them with a hammer like captain caveman to get the LEDs out of them. They were three LEDs on a chip. Then i stole the tops to all of mommy's spices, cut a hole in them and glued the led's to them. I hid them in acoustic foam from guitar center and ran the wires down the back.

I then found out that ikea has multicolored diode lights so I am going there right now to buy more. I wont be happy until half my room looks like the northern nights.

Thanks.

I mostly use my laptop for the internet though, the tower is more for taking to boarding school for a assignments (I put Office 2008 and Logic 8 on it) and gaming (Dual boot with XP on a separate drive, ordered an extra 2GB of RAM and an ATi Radeon x1650 Pro 512MB for it. Sorry, I just noticed it was so huge. I will resize when I get home. :p

You don't have to resize the image, if you just edit the original post with the image (change the opening image tag IMG to TIMG and the closing image tag /IMG to /TIMG) everything will be fine.

Besides my MacPro (see sig), those speakers are M-Audio AV-40's (which just broke today, unfortunately) and the monitors are Acer x233H's--not great monitors, but they were dirt cheap. I've also a WD 500GB external and my 8GB Touch in the pictures somewhere.

I like the workspace, but I need to work on my cable arrangement under my desk.

Looks like the USB cable goes from the iMac through the hole in the stand into a bundle of cables with a cable clamp and disappears from view for a bit, but eventually plugs into the 3rd port from the top on the far side of the hub.

I the same monitor in a single configuration and I hate it. Like you, I picked it up dirt cheap. I do not recommend this monitor for any type of graphic semi-professional work. The color differentials on this thing are ridiculously poor. The same gray can look either dark or light depending where on the screen it is. I'm looking for a new monitor ASAP.

Edit: For those looking for the Maxell poster, I have one in my office that I bought directly from the source. It's current $5 cheaper than AllPosters.com and it comes without the ugly black border: http://www.shopmaxell.com/detail/TCL+CA96402

I haven't noticed anything that bad (so far), but the work I'm doing right now doesn't require me to do any color-intensive stuff. But, when I first got them both, one of the monitors displayed distinctly different colors than the other, no matter how much I tried to calibrate them equally. I returned it and got a new one, and while they still don't look great, at least they match.

My room at uni now has this setup:
http://carlosbutler.com/media/forums/macrumors/myUniSetup/P1010969.JPG
24" iMac 3.06Ghz, 4GB ram with a Samsung something something 'floating' display. Bose Companion 5 speakers, 2x1TB Western Digital My Studio's linked to each other and one to the computer and a 500GB My Passport.. iPhone 3GS 32GB on xstand and the new Logitech Performance MX (I broke the MX revolution :o), and a 15" MBP 2.8GHz.

http://carlosbutler.com/media/forums/macrumors/myUniSetup/P1010970.JPG
Samsung 26" LCD TV, connected only to the PS3 and sound comes out of the Bose speakers. PS3 is giving up the ghost, every month or so YLOD's, although my fault because of the stupid places I put and it overheated. The Bealtes Rockband drums.

http://carlosbutler.com/media/forums/macrumors/myUniSetup/P1010971.JPG
HP PSC6280, ethernet printer connected to the network, on the other side of the room.

Setup has a ton of wires which I haven't bothered tidying up as I am only living there for about 8 months. The setup it self isnt really that amazingly laid out because its only temporary, although luckily the table that came with the house is massive. Must be about 180cms end to end, so I can fit all the screens on with not much of a problem.

Yeah its pretty amazing. *Looks up fraternity* In the UK, I don't believe there are fraternities. At my university there are societies (http://www.lufbra.net/societies/socslist/), which range from computer societies and fencing to sports and big food society (http://www.lufbra.net/photos/photo/109/716/) - which is awesome . You don't really need to go through any 'initiation' just to be part of a group. I am not sure whether other universities have as many societies, since I know some dont have any. Although I think it's a bit strange for a students union to not have many student activities.

I always saw the fraternities as buying friends. The only problem was, once I graduated when I would run into people who graduated before be they asked if I was in a frat... and probably helped them find jobs. I love favoritism.

i received an email from the OP in the other thread regarding this hub and you can buy it at http://bit.ly/99PeoQ. looks like you can use it powered or not powered. don't see anything about shipping to the U.S. so us stateside folk might be out of luck. the OP used double-sided tape to adhere the hubs to the backs of his ACDs.

Amusingly, the Ikea Jerker desks (I have 2) are ridiculously sturdy. Easily hold the weight of two adults sitting on them with 0 problems.

They're very simple designs, with welded nuts & allen bolts to hold it together.

I've had mine for 3 years, and they're still as solid as they were when I first assembled them.

They unfortunately no longer offer them, or I'd add a 3rd to my collection.

They're GREAT. I originally bought the Swan M10's but was the FIRST order after they went on backorder. So I requested to chang my order to the D1080MkII's because they were equivalent in price and I didn't want to wait a month or two :D

They have great clarity (notably - vocals, acoustic guitar, and piano), good bass (it's hard for me to give you an accurate idea of how good the bass is...they're on a shelf slightly above my desk, so the enclosed space really amplifies the bass and gives it a boost. Some songs sound REALLY bass-y then...You can attach a subwoofer, though I'm not sure it would make too much of a difference. If you want that much rattle, buy Buttshakers haha :P)

They're darn pretty and VERY solid. They're heavy. Shipment was ~26 lbs.

With out goals we are lost in life.

i received an email from the OP in the other thread regarding this hub and you can buy it at http://bit.ly/99PeoQ. looks like you can use it powered or not powered. don't see anything about shipping to the U.S. so us stateside folk might be out of luck. the OP used double-sided tape to adhere the hubs to the backs of his ACDs.

edit: after googling for a domestic supplier, i found the same hub available in the U.S. http://bit.ly/bzAeJj

thanks i emailed him when i first saw it but he didnt respond so I posted the pic here to see if anyone else knew what it was. Thanks for finding it.

I am using monoprice arms. I absolutely love them. I have had them about 3 months and not one problem. I am constantly moving them around. They feel very sturdy, no sagging, not too tight when moving them. I overall recommend them and would buy them again.

You can also spend $5 on a coat hanger and do it yourself. I read it on Lifehacker.com. You don't need to get an Ikea coat hanger either, they sell them at Home Depot, Do It Yourself Center, Lowes, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.

Not bad for a 16 year old?

15" MBP in the center, hooked up to the 24" Samsung on the left.
Acer Aspire One 10" netbook in front of the 24".
Apple wireless keyboard, wireless Mighty Mouse in front of the 24".
Two SeaGate FreeAgent Go drives, can you find them? One on each desk.
Forgot my iPod touch 32GB third gen.
The wires hanging next to the DVD on the wall are my various pairs of earphones. Normal Apple earbuds from my iPod touch, Apple in-ears hanging and RadTech Pro Cables I got for $5 hanging from a hook on the wall
And… a whole mess of cables.

Hmm… I should get a real desk for the 24".

Anyone know how to upload a 3.7MB image? I don't know how to use the timg tag or whatever.

EDIT: I got it. Photobucket is my savior.

Bose Companion 3s II
13" Aluminum MacBook 2.4GHz/4GB/250GB

Blackberry 9700 Bold
PS3 Controller (40" Sony LCD is to my right, hooked up to my PS3 and cable box)
Ikea Grono Lamp
Medicine + Tissues (I was sick this week) + ChapStick (it's way too cold out)

Back home I have a 21.5" HP monitor which I connect my MB to and have a wireless keyboard and mighty mouse. Also, I hook up my PS3 to it when I leave my 40" at school.
However, I am graduating this spring so I will need to make some changes to my set-up. I am waiting for a MBA revision (I hope they add the glass trackpad to it). I will probably upgrade my iMac to 4GB ram and keep it for at least another year. Don't know what to do with my monitor. If I keep it. I want to add a MStand for my monitor and get a magic mouse to replace my mighty mouse.
