Maybe its time to upgrade to a intel computer bro. Welcome to 2013 get out of 2005

Wow, what a caring and helpful response to a problem that was not at all my fault. My memory of living in Northwest Indiana was that everyone was so friendly and hospitable. Maybe you are just from Gary ;)

I did the ATV 3 once this story broke, and it went fine. I just now finished the ATV 2 and it went just as well. No problems and a quick update.

That's two updates Apple screwed up for me - iPad3/iOS7 - what a laggy pile of crap that was but while Apple was still signing 6.1.3 updates I got it back to nice and fluid territory, and now this crap about ATV2/6.0.

After AirPlay from AirFoil was broken by the 6.0 update I had to roll my ATV2 back to 5.3 - fortunately that worked at least until yesterday. Now that I know I am not going to be doing any iOS updates whatsoever - it's also jailbroken with XBMC!

Seriously I love the ATV... but its the worst Apple hardware/software ever.

My ATV2 bricked in an update. Couldn't recover at all.
My ATV3 dropped WiFi constantly. It's placed in the exact same place as the 2 was.
I had it replaced. The new one does the same thing. Drives me absolutely nuts.
I'm scared to actually download the new update as sometimes the new versions have even more WiFi issues.

Such a good little POS :(.

I had the same issue. The LED in front flashed rapidly and on the screen on my Apple TV after it failed it showed the "connect to iTunes" logo. All I had to do is plug it into my Windows PC running iTunes and it recovered it. Did you try that?

No, because I don't have that special cable. Apple phone support was not willing to help and the Apple store is practically across the street so I decided to pack it up and take it in.

Updated. Well, the keyboard on the iPad remote app no longer pops up reliably. Yet another bug.

Let me see, Apple controls the hardware and the software. There are no limitless hardware configurations out there. This shouldn't be happening.

Why aren't all the apple apps not updated to ios7 yet also? Short on staff, short on money? What's the excuse?

Short on talented programmers. The NFL could expand into 30 more cities and has plenty of money to play 30 more teams, but they are going to have a hard time finding enough talented players to field good teams.

At a certain point there finate amount of resources and all the money in the world can't fix it. It was clearly all hands on deck to get iOS 7 shipped. I would imagine it won't be long until Apple apps are updated.

…..The Apple TV 6.0 update that Apple pulled over the weekend is now once again available for download. As noted by 9to5Mac, the updated version carries a build number of 11A502, compared to the old 11A470e version, indicating Apple has made some changes to the software.

Following the software's initial Friday release, there were multiple reports that the update caused critical errors for a number of users, necessitating a full iTunes restore. The newly updated software presumably fixes those issues.

That was fast indeed!

This explains the pizza delivery trucks all over at The Loop in Cupertino this weekend. Guess they got sick of the cafeteria food or it was closed when they were working triple shifts.

You keepin' a close eye on Infinite Loop…..? :D

Moral of the story: Do NOT be an early adopter of an OS upgrade EVER.

I subscribe to that policy, but at the same time am grateful to the early adopters who 'blaze the trail', and without whom we wouldn't find out those pesky and annoying glitches before they inconvenience us.

I guess have a different definition of 'critical error', cause to me a glitch that causes the need to restore a device that holds basically no data and takes less than ten minutes to set up from scratch is an annoyance not a critical error

HA alright a little harsh maybe didn't mean to come across that way. (okay maybe a little) , but you can get a Intel iMac for less then $300 on craigslist. May be worth considering. Close but defiantly not Gary :) Highland.

The new AirPlay over iCloud functionality allows users to take any purchased iTunes content — such as music, movies or TV episodes — and stream it directly to an Apple TV that may not be configured with their iTunes login credentials. The authentication is instead provided wirelessly by a connected iOS device, like an iPhone or iPad.

Best description of this feature I've read so far! Well done. The line about 'authentication' is what brings it home.

My AppleTV choked a bit on the update on Friday. But a restore via iTunes got me squared up again, and it took the update second time around. Took today's update just fine too.

ATV2 issues (Wifi?)

EDIT: Now that I've submitted this message, and continued using my ATV2, networking seems to be much better - so, I guess there isn't a problem, or it's intermittent.

I just updated my ATV2 (after update was pulled/restored).

There seems to be some sort of network issues.

After the update, using the "Remote" app to enter passwords (to connect to iTunes/icloud), there was a lot of "lag" (on screen "dots" for password entry were seconds behind what I typed).

Then, it didn't seem to want to login to either iTunes or iCloud (just "spun").

I eventually rebooted - no difference. I did a "reset settings", re-entered my wifi password after the reboot, and it took several seconds (too many) to connect to my AirPort access point.

Then it took minutes to "activate", before asking if I wanted to share info with apple. I said "no", and got a "main menu" showing only "computers" and "settings"". Minutes later, I get the normal main menu.

I'd blame Apple servers, except that it took a long time to even associate with my AirPort access point.

I wonder if there are general wifi issues?

My ATV3 updated fine/no problems (I did that *before* Apple pulled the update)

So I updated my Apple TV , entered my password for podcasts and IT DELETED ALL MY PODCASTS ON ALL DEVICES....what the hells with that?

3x ATV updates and no problems. Digging iTunes radio, having on ATV is awesome.

Just updated my AT3 over wifi & it took 5 mins to download, then 10mins for each of the 2 steps.

Located in Sydney, Australia for all the international viewers out there.

Things running very smoothly so far.

iTunes Radio is freaking incredible, the genre matches are better then any other service I've ever seen or used. It's better then choices even I would think to make!

No jailbreak yet? I wish Apple would add a media player supporting mkv, avi, etc.

You know Apple will never do that. They want you to purchase everything in iTunes. There's a lot of software targeted at filling iTunes with your incompatible videos. For example VideoDrive.

I downgraded to 5.3 yesterday as I was having major issues with streaming from iTunes. Anyone having these issues with the new 6.0 as I want to hold off updating in the mean time.
