My brother mentioned that he read on an ios list that he's a part of that they're also going to be opening up iOS 8 betas to the public in the summer, does anyone know if this is true? I tried googling it but found nothing.

Could a kind soul please observe and report the behavior of this new Emoji button on the keyboard if you have more than one keyboard language turned on from Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard...

Does this change to the globe icon?

iOS8 and Videos App on ipad

New poster here - after some 25 years with windows, my wife got me an ipad 2 a couple of years ago, and now have an Air as well. Love the Eco system for music etc in itunes and airplay.

Being a lazy 56 year old, have put some 620 movies into itunes, and can now watch what I want from the sofa via Apple TV.

However, I can review a movie on the apple tv with short description which I have entered into itunes, but I cannot get a movie description on my iPads, apart from the ones I've purchased. Nor, on the ipad, is there a movie title, and I only know the movie name if I recognise the artwork I've previously put against the film. Why only on Apple TV, and no short description on the ipad.

Sorry for the ramblings. Any new developments in ios8!

They are opening up the Mac OS X 10.10 Beta to the public. The first 1 million people who sign up for the beta program will have a chance to test it. Haven't seen anything about iOS 8 being included in a similar program.

Siri Shazam

If your phone is connected via bluetooth to your car and you want to Shazam a song on the radio, you can't because when you summon Siri, it will take over your multimedia interface.

Not true. They're opening up the beta of OS X Yosemite to the first 1 million members of the public to sign up. Not iOS 8.

When entering credit card info in Safari, there is an option to "scan credit card", tried it today and it scanned it, but got all the info wrong haha. #betaproblems

Get your facts right. "Hey Siri" only works when the device is connected to a power source. At worst, the phone might charge a little slower.

He did get his facts right...
The phone HAS TO BE plugged in BECAUSE having the microphone always on to listen for you to say Hey Siri only makes sense in a car. Why would you want to drain your battery all day just for that one time you say Hey Siri?

I've already filled mine with personal information, so a screenshot isn't that helpful. It's basically the same thing as a contact card in Contacts.App only it includes related fields. I have 5 emergency contacts, and I believe i could add more.
You can add:
  • Medical Conditions
  • Medical Notes
  • Allergies & Reactions
  • Medications
  • Emergency Contacts
  • Birthdate
    [*]Blood Type
  • Organ Donar Declaration
  • Weight / Height / Eye Color

Just to point out in Beta 1. If you entered your blood type, I was having difficulty putting A- . It kept changing to A+ so some may want to leave that blank just to be safe. :)

Just read through everyones responses. Pretty cool stuff. Can anyone verify that you can passcode lock specific apps?

Anyone know if in Calendar locations are searched via Maps like on the Mac? I always find myself entering events on the Mac calendar because of the lookup feature for location via maps.
