did anyone have an isight uplink, why dont they do things like that in uk london i dont think peopel over in uk take macs as seriosly as us fans do, we got a long way to go yet! :(

The contents of the bags will necessarily be completely different from one to the next. That's part of the Japanese tradition, and that's exactly what makes it fun. If they were all the same, someone would post the contents (in this case, right from the store) and people would immediately decide whether or not to buy them simply on whether they wanted to get that particular stuff for that much money.

If Apple is faithful to the tradition (and I'm sure they will be), the contents should vary quite a lot. Some people will be disappointed and some people will get far more than they paid for. In Japan, it's not uncommon for the people who didn't get what they wanted to buy a *second* bag.

And contrary to one poster, at least some of the bags should contain products that cost Apple more than the cost of the bag. The rationale is partly explained above, but Apple also gets some promotional value from doing this.

For those planning to buy, keep in mind that you're buying for the fun of not knowing. If you have only $250 and you are there for an iPod mini, then spend your money on the iPod mini!!!

I bet the Apple Store employees will be taking something like "pre-orders" on the lucky bags. Then, when all of the lucky bags have been "pre-ordered," everyone who bought them will get theirs. This kind of sounds like something Apple would do, and this way every bag could hold the same content. As for the non-Apple item: a bottle of Pepsi.

I just got a call from my sis

I think the bags are all gone at this point

some had 10 gig iPods

the ones that didn't have iPods seemed to have Airport Base Stations

each one had a wireless keyboard and mouse

so far, it doesn't seem like any had an iPod Mini

it's been like an hour common post the contents.

If this happens in regent street I will be there in an odd costume (like darth vader or something. Sad I know) with a skater dressed as a cuban pimp and mabey a g5 powerbook if i feel like getting muged.

giving stuff like airport base stations is a good idea because then people will have to buy airport cards... crafty.

Re: eBay auction appears!

Man, this guy doesn't make a LICK of sense. He waits 14 hours to get in to the new SF Apple store, buys a $250 "mystery bag" of Apple goodies, then puts it on Ebay with a weak "I can't use any of this stuff as I am a PC user".

Huh??

C'mon fella - just tell people you're hoping to double your investment and we'll think more of you in the process.

my thoughts exactly, and even if I wasn't able to use anything of the stuff inside.. i don't think i could keep my hands off that mystery bag.. i'd be too anxious :D

Yep i agree this stuped head is doing it just for the money. Maybe if he had worked for 14hours maybe he earned equal:p

Maybe he has opened it and taken out the main item, so he has his iPod or whatever, and is now after the profit. He DOESN"T say whats in it as he says it's unopened, can they be re-sealed?

If you buy it from him, he hasn't lied about the contents has he!

And the buy it now price?!!!

This guy definitely has a screw loose. Must be the same person who claimed to have butchered that G5 into a low level windows gaming pc I read about a while back. eh?

We DON'T HAVE an Apple Store in the UK yet! What are you complaining about, that Dixon's dosn't give you Airport Access, or that we don't have a store? We have one being built in Regents Street for later this year.

As for the Store, check the Apple site, it has all the info about the store, as does this site

my point is we dont have many wireless access points in the north west and they have stores that do :( we dont have the quality of apple stores like usa :( and that needs to change in my opinion. good to hear about the one opening soon though.

Lucky Bag info

Well everyone - I just got back home after spending 18 hours in line to get into the new Apple Store... and getting 2 Lucky Bags.

There seems to be 3 variants of the bags - all have the following:

- iLife
- Keynote
- .Mac subscription
- 10% Discount card
- Bluetooth USB adapter
- Wireless Mouse
- Wireless Keyboard

and both of my bags had:

- Airport Extreme (w/ modem and external ant. jack)

and others (again, unfortunately not mine) had
- An iPod Mini!!!

or

- An iPod 20GB

there could be more variations... such as a 40GB or something. The APB Extreme seemed to be the most frequent by far.

as I really wanted the iPod Mini and already have every single product in the bag - I am selling both to whoever wants them first.

photos here: http://homepage.mac.com/kendrick/

cost is $500 for each bag.

email me at kendrick@mac.com

fyi: Steve Jobs, Jonathan Ive, Mayor Gavin Newsom, Former Mayor Willie Brown were all in attendance... among others I am sure I did not personally recognize. The experience was awesome.

cheers!

i dont think he's trying to hide the fact that he waited in line to make money off the bag. i hope he makes a good profit. someone that couldnt make it to the event will be able to buy one of the bags and still get a good deal, and he makes some extra money.:) no harm.

p.s. i just read the post above mine....very interesting that Jobs was there...pretty cool.

One more thing about that Lucky Bag on EBay

the bags are in no way sealed!!! The bag itself is a simple zippered black bag. Do not be fooled by his description, all he has to do is unzip the bag and he can easily tell if there is an iPod or not in there.

The products inside have standard packaging, each individually sealed, but not packaged together in any special way. Clearly it was hand assembled.

Everytime a person got an iPod there would be a massive cheer as they lifted it above their heads. Quite an exciting experience overall.
