Bottom line, applecare is for defects and lasts only 2 years after the initial 1 year warranty. Squaretrade is an insurance policy against things other then defects

Warning about squaretrade
Squadtrade has two options: same coverage as AppleCare or go premium and cover everything (tear and wear, spills, physical damage etc`). I don' think that $350 for a $2000 laptop is a smart investment (the premium coverage by Squadtrade). The prices of AppleCare and the regular SquatTrade policy are pretty much the same, so go with AppleCare.
