the results of the Consumer Reports test (posted here on the front page) state the iPhone 6 requires nearly half as much force to bend as the iPhone 5.

How is this in any way a positive result?

With normal use you should not see your phone bend as per the report from Consumer Reports. Apple isn't concerned with making the least bendable phone, they're concerned with making the best looking, highest quality phone.
