2011 Titus Racer X all built up.

Taking it in tomorrow to the local shop to have the rear hydraulic brake cable shortened, bled and reassembled. Needs minor cockpit adjustments, but it is done. Went 2x9 with a Salsa bash ring on there.

Great thread! Here's one of my bikes - A 2010 Scott Gambler 20. A truly great performer. However, I just sold it today as I'm awaiting the 2013 model. Will post new pictures once it arrives.

Here's what I used it for. :)

Im thinking of purchasing a new bike, and this is my current favo:

bulls-cross-mover-3_533-29848_2000px.png

Any thoughts on that? I use my bike every day, summer and winter for 5 miles to work and 5 miles back. I live on a hill, so there is a significant altitude difference.

Currently i have a cheapo hardtail mountainbike, but since i ride 80% tarmac and only 20% gravel/field tracks (weekends), i think a crossbike would fit my needs better, right?

I would spend 1000€ maximum...

that's more of a hybrid than cross bike. pretty sure most cross bikes have a rigid fork with drops

Okay, i don't care about the exact name for the thing, i just need a bike for mainly road use but also with some light offroad abilities. Front suspension would be nice, since i'm really used to it from my hardtail.

So "crossbike" or "hybrid", any serious recommendations?

It really depends on the fork. If it is a garbage fork, you are better off going with a rigid front end. Looks like a nice bike, and if you like it, then you should get it. Any chance you can test ride it before purchasing?

And that is what I consider to be a hybrid bike if you want to get technical with the name of it.

It's a cross bike in Germany but not cyclocross. A cyclocross is a querfeldeinrad

No worry's you right, in Germany it's called a Crossrad in English it's called a Hybrid. In English cross bikes refer to cyclocross bikes a querfeldeinrad. Americans forget that the internet is not a big America. If I were to buy a bike to commute 7KM to work it would be a bahnrad, they are cheaper, simpler and will give you a workout.

I use white SRAM super cork on my fixed gear trainer/commuter that sees about 2000 miles a year and I replace it each summer just because. They are usually still "white".

The stock tape on my specialized went to a yellow tint with black marks pretty quickly.
