Just curious what Penryn MBPs come with... 9C83, I wonder who makes that one.

I have a stock 2.5G Penryn with a 9C83 display. The colors were very washed out until I used an ICC file I got form this site. Now the display is beautiful!

I have 9c81, 15" Penryn MBP w/ 2.5GHz CPU.

Although I exchanged it twice, the first one I got was also 9c81, the second one I forgot to look. I should have, since the second one had the yellow tint problem on the bottom 1/3-1/4 of the screen. Both 9c81 screens did not exhibit yellow tint problem.

The 1st one that I got and returned was also a 9C81-LG - same problem as you with the 1/4th yellow screen.

The 2nd one I got is 9C83-Samsung and the screen looks MUCH better overall, more vibrant, and no more yellow issue.

can you tell me where I can get that profile and just exactly how would I go about using it on my MBP?

I think I had a very very faint white-yellow at the bottom of my screen. If it was actually there, it was very hard to tell.

However, after using the calibration file, it looks beautiful and no yellow at all!

9C81, LG (model LP154WP2-TLA3). Excellent display. No yellowing whatsoever. Slight light bleeding on top and bottom, but not too bad. Very satisfied with it.
