I can confirm the bad reception. I get weak to marginal reception in one spot in my house on the iPhone 3gs, none nada on the iPhone 4 in the same spot.

:(

Well crap. I was hoping it would have better reception. My 3gs had weak reception and would drop out. I had to go outside for calls if I wanted them to stay connected.

I'll post when I get home tonight and see if I have any problems and report back.

Youtube video to boot...

Just saw the video!

It's a MAJOR design flaw that can't be fixed.

It makes sense because you hand is on the aerial and is directly blocking the reception.

That is why most phones had aerials on top.

But there is no other way to hold the phone!

Seems like a BIG FAIL for Apple as I don't see a way around this other than iPhone 5.

If this really is the case, and holding the phone causes signal loss. It would help to explain apples choice is case design. Bumpers. Problem solved.

I'm sorry but a human hand is not going to noticeably damper the radio signal into your cell phone, that is unless your hand is covered in chicken wire.

LOL!
Yes it can!

You can even try it on a 3GS - just wrap you hands on the back top and bottom.

The signal cuts out COMPLETELY.

But when you hold the 3GS NORMALLY there is not even 1 bar drop.

Seems like the iPhone 4 design is fudged.

I think some of the early reviews have talked about a bug that shows fewer bars but the phone still functions well. Most say reception is markedly improved.

Fewer bars? How about none... Watch the video.

The only thing that is annoying me is waiting for the developers to use retina display! I can't stand those blurry icons.

Negative, I tried that method you suggested with the 3GS. I never lost a bar.

My old iphone had lousy reception in the house, the 4 is even worse. I immediately went to AT&T and bought the microcell. Problem in the house solved. Now hopefully I won't be in areas other than my home with poor reception.

you must have a considerable amount of iron in you to create a faraday cage with your hand! seriously, go wrap your hand around a radio antenna and see if you can pick up any signals...

You mean the signal can travel through the silicone and plastic and around your hand? If so, that's genius.
