And once again a top-end iMac steers me away from the Mac Pro I had been eyeing.

I'll wait for Quake Wars and Bioshock benchmarks to make up my mind :) (Oh, and money. I'll wait for that.)

Thats kind of how i feel. I want the quad core, but i'm not sure it'll fit on my desk. Eh

Take the 24" model that does fit your desk, add 1.5 inches on the left, and another 1.5 inches on the right. You'll probably get it to fit :)

And all of them take up zero inches of desk space anyway, since they're elevated. My iMac's "foot" is my snail mail pile.

No minitower then :D

And maybe some enterprising company can build a bluray player with Mini Displayport output.

Was there any sort of video card update? I thought the 4850 was BTO on the last gen iMac. As far as Bootcamp gaming is concerned, these are no different from the last generation -- they will be completely GPU limited :\

For me, Apple just nailed it and hit a home run with the 27". Definitely my next new desktop (replacing my 2003 P4 Windows machine).

Now I just need $2200...

Despite being mentioned in several places, the i7 version is a no-show in the store  The i5 version at least says shipping in November.

Edit: Sorry. For those wondering, you have to select the i5 version and add the i7 as a $200 option.

I have asked for a video input in an iMac since I first went into Macs. It was the one reason an iMac wasn't a practical choice.

Apple, you're getting my money. Thanks :)

Amazing. Although I personally think they should have left yesterdays baseline model in there as well and dropped it to $999.

I wonder if they changed the ability to get to the hard drive? I learned the hard way why a Mac Pro is superior to the iMac..... accessibility when your hard drive goes. And your hard drive will go at some point.

Lovely updates - Blu-ray Schmoo-ray. But...

...just look at that UK pricing :(

Even when VAT is factored in, and at todays exchange rate, there's an 11.3% loading.

I guess I'll just have to suck it up, 'cos I want one.
