The is already in the bag. Relax people. Apple knows what they're doing. They are one of the few great American companies left in the world. They deserve it.

Isn't that a f***ng shame? Everywhere I look American companies are faltering. In a lot of ways I still think Apple is about the desire to change the world.

I figured that sort of idealism would never lead to corporate success but Apple's on the brink of overtaking Microsoft in value...at least according to the world's biggest gambling casino i.e Wallstreet.

People are finally starting to realize that upfront savings from buying mediocre crap isn't a smart idea in the long run. See General Motors' collapse, Microsoft's stagnation, and Apple's ascent. Apparently the old European adage that says "I am not rich enough to buy cheap things!" is going global.

The times they are a changing. Thankfully.

No kidding, I saw on the news this morning that Fortune rated Toyota something like #350 to company.... last year they were #3.

Apple's time has finally arrived!

If Market Cap is any indication.... yes, times truly are a changing. :)

The realization that using Windows on bargain-bin units is costly in the long run is starting to gain momentum.

I'm not quite sure about the general public but Apple is certainly becoming more prominent in the student community.

The increasing foot-traffic into the retail stores suggests a momentum of interest by the general public as well.

I've noticed an increased presence in music conservatories on the east-coast too.

I know that Apple is one of the initial investors in ARM Holdings but because most of the world's "smart" cellphones use a variant of the ARM design, you can understand the fear of Apple owning ARM Holdings itself--the possibility that Apple will make the ARM instruction code highly proprietary and/or get access to "secret" CPU instruction codes nobody else knows about.

In short, expect a LOT of scrutiny by the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division in the USA and European Union antitrust regulators on whether Apple can do this--it's possible that the DoJ and/or EU could reject the deal, and Apple may have to spin off its share in ARM Holdings.

even if apple were to buy ARM, no one else would like it and we would see a strong competitor rise up. no one wants to feed their competition. either Intel or some industry consortium like Blu-Ray.

I'd expect no more scrutiny than

Oracle buying Sun Microsystems
Microsoft trying to buy Yahoo
Google buying Admob

I swear you guys are manufacturing stuff that does not exist. Other than PA Semi and potentially Intrinisity Apple does not play in this area which means it would be almost impossible to logically accuse Apple of potential wrong doing because this would be such a vertical move.

Most of the fears that i've read hear about shutting off the competition would get laughed out of court if it were ever allowed. The case for presenting Apple as a danger to the smartphone world would be a tough case to win.

Keep in mind these same DOJ and EU buffoons have tried to nail Microsoft for years and have come up with some lame resolutions (Microsoft please leave Internet Explorer off of your computers here ..thanks)

If Apple buys ARM don't expect there to be much of a fight. They have a right to acquire talent and assets just like any other company.
