Honestly, part of me thinks Jobs should have said something. Everyone like loves and has highest respect, I guess we kinda depended on him to step up and lay the smack down, and nothing happened

Sure thing. I'm getting annoyed by all of these people getting upset that we're upset.

ha ha,

dude, ur so right, thats hilarious because I am getting upset that they are getting upset that we are upset about the color of the iphone...

There will be a white iPhone. You just have to wait. If you don't like that, use your white 3GS. If your that mad about it, Blackberry would love your business.

I have a 22 month old son (Zion Phoenix) who gets over not getting his way quite well, and much faster than some I have witnessed over this debacle.

Did I want the white phone? Honestly I did, or thought I did. Then, I saw the pics with bumpers (which mine will have) and I was so grateful that I was able to change my pre-order and go with black.

Like I said, Steve isn't telling you to not want white. He is just telling you to wait. A solid lesson, from a solid company. Adapt or get run over.

I don't mean to sound rude, but this is very easy for you to say because you apparently had a pre-order for the white model before you switched it to black. Most people didn't know pre-ordering white was an option (it really wasn't -- some stores made mistakes). Most people waiting for white are getting screwed out of a phone on launch day because we didn't know what to do.

u guys are just pissed that I'm getting the white iphone from radio shack, and u guys know ur not going to get at Apple
Not once in the history of Apple launches has Apple ever stocked a partner (like Radio Shack) with a product before it stocked its own supply chain with that product.

All Radio Shack did was decide to start writing peoples names down for when Apple does make the white iPhone available to them.

As a person that wants a white iPhone, I think it's crap that Apple can't be more specific with the time frame.

But then with the iPad's UK launch, they tried to give a specific time frame, and a few weeks into the US launch, they figured out that they couldn't meet it (because the demand was greater than the supply). So people were pissed off because the time frame Apple gave was wrong and had to be pushed back.

So what I'm getting from Apple not saying anything is that they really have no clue when they're going to start making white batches. It's going to depend on when they get caught up with the black iPhone demand.

Why the frustration ? It is not like Apple said that the white iPhones are coming out next year.

Reason why they went with all Black first..... I would say that the black phones are more popular choice for people. Maybe they had an issue with the 3GS where people were forced to take white phones because the black phones were all sold out, and then when the black phones were back in stock, people were exchanging their white phones for the black ones.

Apple probably was thinking to get as many phones as possible in the most popular color out at launch day and then bring out the white phones once things settle down a bit ( a few days or couple of weeks later ).

While I am disappointed that Apple doesn't have the white version of the iPhone 4 available for preorder or reserve, I am not getting too worked up over it. Apple obviously encountered a problem somewhere in production, probably a shortage of a part, such as the screen, which I have heard is the problem. Since the black is the most popular version, Apple probably thought it wise to give priority to the black version for production. The white's production will follow and I'm guessing it wont be more than 2-3 weeks that the while will be available to the masses. So just hold tight, you're going to have the phone for 1-2 years, a month isn't going to kill you.

I can't believe how many people are upset that they can't pre order a white iPhone 4. Really? Apple has the right to make however many of which ever model they want. Maybe it will be faster for the manufacturing process if they do all black at first. That way they can get more iPhones out on launch day. If you want a white iPhone that bad, wait a week. Fortunately, I want a black one and have it pre ordered. However if I had to wait a week for it, it's no big deal. IT'S JUST A PHONE!!

I think just a simple PR release next week before the launch will be the best way to calm people and inform them on why they couldn't meet the initial deadline. That's what I'm waiting for.

I would have taken the Black one, and exchanged it for the White one when they got more in stock. Problem solved….

My 3GS was white, and I rather liked that. And before preorders, I thought I'd get a white 4. When preorders started and white wasn't available, I was briefly sad. But then I thought about my white 3GS, which, 98% of the time, wasn't white after all. It was red, because that's what color case it lived in.

I'm not torn up about not being able to get white, although I do feel for those who either tried to preorder white and got their orders cancelled, or those who were just plain hanging on for a white phone.

What i dont understand is that the people whining and crying over the white iPhone will have to wait longer now. And when everyone has their black iphone then they will whine about that. I personally don't style my wardrobe around a cell phone.

That's pretty stupid if you ask me. So either stop crying and order the black phone or Stop crying and wait for the white. Apple doesn't own you an reason because they did provide you with a phone, It's just not to your liking and that's not their problem,OP. That is yours so work it out.

And how do *YOU* know it's gonna be "a week"??
If it was known that it was only going to be a week, then half of the bitching on here would just go away!
And that's the problem...we who want a white iPhone are all just left in limbo! If Apple would just release some info on it like "Sorry, it won't be out until September" then we could all just decide, Gee, do I want to wait until Sept. or go ahead and order a black one now and move on! But nooooooooooooo, we are just left here without being able to make a decision because of Apple's silence on the matter. I for one want white and am willing to wait. It's the not knowing that is the problem!
Most of all the whining and crying would all jsut go away if Apple would just show some courtesy.
GET IT?

I am just going to say that I agree with all that is said. I waited for a new 13" mac book pro back in April and when I got it there was no new i5 or i7 in it but I accepted it and moved on with my life enjoying my mbp. Now I watched the keynote and kept up with the iPhone news not sure that I wanted to upgrade from my 3gs but I was convinced when I saw the white one that it was the one I wanted. When it came time to order though, well you know the story! Now I refuse to buy a black one, on principal, plus now they don't ship until mid July. I am so frustrated at Apple that I always seem to get the short end of the stick. I am new to Apple and though I love their products, I hate their releasing procedure....until I see news on the white iPhone improve I will not be happy...thank you to this forum so that I could get this frustration out

lol... the sense of entitlement is ridiculous.

Yeah, imagine wanting to buy a product Apple advertised. Hell, Apple is selling their little color bands by only advertising them on white iPhones. Tone down your self-righteous indignation.

I hear ya....

I am a bit "ify" about the radio shack, but who knows...... and Best buy canceling.. whaaat?

Apple, who is the creator, should just come out with the facts, it's their phone and they call the shots, if the apple store cant pre-order, no one should....

You've upset the fanboy mob. No ill word shall be spoken of Apple here. The sooner you learn that the sooner your free will can be removed and you can become one of them.

It's a phone. A very popular phone but still just a phone. Be thankful that you are in the first wave of countries getting it. If the iphone 4 is as popular as the ipad was at launch there could be a delay getting it in those countries in the second wave of launches. Anyone there will be waiting to see when they can get an iphone 4 at all, black or white. In the UK we had to wait and wait until the ipad was launched. There just weren't enough to go round. Companies do get it wrong and sometimes even the mighty apple can underestimate demand or even hit a last minute problem with the production of an announced phone like the white iphone 4.

If you want a white phone, wait. If you want to express your frustration, great but understand that there will be a lot of people who will think that you are being self indulgent.

As for thinking that anyone is going to care that much as you walk past them with your white iphone, dream on.

Agreed!

But Steve doesn't practice that. If he did, he wouldn't be employing sweat shop laborers to get them made as fast as possible. He'd take his time and do it in a more humane manner.

I love these 'holier than thou' posts. Where's your proof of 'sweat shop laborers' comment or are you mindlessly regurgitating left wing drivel? And don't bring up the Foxconn suicides. The facts are that company's suicide rate is below the national average for China. These poor folks just happened to decide to end it all at work, where they had a high building to jump off of. Since when did giving jobs to people in developing countries become a bad thing?
