Not surprised tbh. O2 suck ass. Only went with them so I could get an iPhone. Looks like the excitement is over for us who upgraded last year then. *heavy sigh*.

I am very glad I held out for this, I haven't got a 3g so won't be cutting any contract short.
I am going to be queing on the 17th for a new, having sold my old phone and ipod touch 16gb on ebay!

Prepare to be disappointed my friend.

This is from O2's twitter.

The early upgrade cost is likely to be monthly cost x months left on your cotract, but specifics may vary slightly

This sucks. Obviously I didn't expect O2 to be throwing the new iPhone away for free, but I did expect some sort of subsidy in return for starting up a new 18 month contract.

I am ready to buy my first iPhone, don't want a contract and was willing to pay £340 for a pay as you go. Wondering now if O2 will announce pay as you go phones for June 19th, after all the handsets are the only change, the network and sims are already in place for the iPhone Pay&go service.

Please O2, offer Pay&go on the 19th.

Same, I also do not mind paying the extra plus you get the 12 months free 3g and wifi usage its a good deal in my book. I just hope the price is not to extortionate. I dont mind if I have to pay for contract however.

On my contract, it's going to cost £230 to get the new 3gs, which isn't actually too bad. I think it's pretty bad that the more expensive your monthly line rental, the more it will cost you to upgrade!

I don't understand why so many of you are saying that O2 should allow you to upgrade early.

The original iPhone was not subsidised by them - you paid the up front cost and that covered what O2 had to pay Apple for the unit. With iPhone 3G they reduced the up front cost but recovered some of it from the monthly fees.

Do you think owners of Samsung or Nokia handsets go running to them when there is a new model launched, complaining that they deserve to have their financial obligations nullified because the new model adds a tiny little bit more? No? So why are you doing it here?

Sorry but you are not currently eligible to upgrade. You can upgrade when you're in the last month of your contract. To check your contract renewal date visit My O2.

Whats the link on o2 to see how much you'll be for the iPhone 3Gs?
