Completely agree. Removing features constantly just to make it thinner, all while prices get higher.

I actually think macOS Sierra was a good piece of work. Stable, doesn't seem any slower than the previous version, good features. The thing is the hardware you can run it on is getting more and more annoying and crazy expensive.

It must be extremely frustrating to read about speculation of your imminent departure in all the tech press, yet have zero intention of doing so. Also, what would he do next - retire? Doesn't seem like the sort of person who would be content with kicking back and relaxing for the rest of his life. He's still young. Plenty more left to give. By the same token, what other company could he move to and get the same level of satisfaction, exposure and importance? I can't think of one.

"Jony Ive is as connected to product design as ever."

After looking at the 'updated' Macbook Pro laptops, maybe he should give some of that design control to someone that has a fresh perspective of what consumers will want.

Yeah I think they are designing nice looking products, however I think that their design is constraining function a little too much lately. I think that Ive might need to be reigned in a little bit so that his designs are to make great technology look cool, rather than to make a cool design fit some technology inside of it

Jony is an amazing designer that's a one hit wonder. He did a great job with few iterations of the iPhone and some upgrades to the Mac aesthetic. He's not a master of the art with the lack of unpredictability to his work and evolution to his muse.

Simply, a specialist that can do the work predicted of him, thinner and slimmed down designs.

Whatever or whoever is responsible... The company isn't what it used to be, that's for sure. It's definitely not the company that won me over around 2008. I don't want to go back to PC/Windows junk but I'm not seeing anything for content creators coming from Apple that I really want, computer-wise. It's not looking like they'll ever provide it either.

I expect no new Mac Pro ever again, since they've given up on monitors and possibly other things in their formerly rich ecosystem... to focus on repeatedly re-marketing the same iPhones and watches every year, and occasionally release a waify, improperly named laptop, and watch accessories.

I hope that Apple car project is dead.

Hmmm, I'd like to read more about great new Apple products instead of all this negative gossip.

I'm sure Apple will make his role redundant in due time. They seem to be restructuring internal teams to concentrate on watch bands, emojis and ride-sharing company ventures. They don't need designers for that kind of work.
I'm waiting for them to announce the axing of the Mac team in due time as well... :|

Given the latest product designs, its quite evident that he's still in control and connected. Everything coming out of apple has less ports and thinner - definitely the handiwork of Jony.

With that said, I do think he's a fantastic designer, but fresh blood may interject some new designs and freshen up the products

He leads a team. He's not solely working alone.

If anything is wrong with design... for me, it's that there's nothing there to make me upgrade anything. I'm still on the iPhone 6+, iPad 4 and 2011 iMac. There's no features, nothing, since then that I need. Or at least, make me want to spend money. AT&T were giving free upgrades to the iPhone 7. I decided not to because of the earphone jack going AWOL and the worse battery life.

They need a new killer feature. Wireless charging could be it. Or maybe they'll do something with the folding phone patent they filed a couple of years ago. Doubtful, but something like that would make me upgrade. Something game-changing.

As an industrial designer, from my perspective, Apple hasn't really "designed" anything new for a long time. They simply revise their products and go thinner/lighter. Unfortunately, form does not follow function at Apple, more like form over function, thinness over function. Oh well...they still make tons of money.
