Yeah, I noticed that the images weren't high resolution.

To be honest I just keep them that way to stop people using them without asking (as has happened to me in the past). More than happy for you to use them for wallpaper etc. just nothing commercial :)

Think that's the two I have as my desktop background in the other photo in full resolution

I've got two Mac Pro's. My first was a 2008 Mac Pro 3.1 8 core 2.8 running 24 gigs of ram, it had 32 but some of the ram showed it's age and died so I made some adjustments. I purchased in 2009 about five months prior to the 09's coming out. It runs with 4 2tb hitachi's. It's getting old, showing it's age but I use it as my back up. It usually sits in bootcamp on win 7 so I can beta things there when needed.

My second, my most recent is a 2010 model, the 5.1. 12 core 2.66 with the HD 5870. I have the ram maxed at 64 gigs. Boot drive is a 480 gig OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD, second, third and fourth drives are 2 tb seagates.

I have several externals set up, including an OWC Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 8tb Raid, Mercury Elite Pro Performance 6tb Raid, several 2tb hitachi's in newer technology voyager S2's via sata II and one using FW800..

I'm running 3 30" Cinema HD displays, all three are on my 5870 about 95% of the time, with one switching over to the older MP when I need to be in win7.

I've been patiently waiting for the new MP to drop, if it ever does.. hoping for Thunderbolt so I can make changes to my external storage set up.

/crosses fingers.

So that's my set up more or less. =)

Thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one. Chair arrived today to complete the setup for my new Mac Pro, thought I'd share:

Image

I tagged the toys in the photo on Flickr

The desk is custom built from solid birch Ikea worktop (thankfully my father's great at all the DIY stuff and had a router and various other wood-working tools to do the curve etc.) and the units are from Ikea as well. Chair is a Herman Miller Aeron and the Mac Pro is listed in my signature!

(The desk is all the same wood, but the left hand piece is at 90 degrees to the other bits so in the light it looks a lighter colour from this angle. Wood is a remarkable substance!)

I love your desk and your view outdoors is fantastic!

I use my MP for HD video editing mostly (FCPX) and then of course Photoshop/Lightroom etc.

I am a photographer/webmaster so it helps to have speed when editing.

Sure, the studio might be a tad rustic...

I use the EOS utility to control and trigger the DSLR from the MP. A Yeti for the voice overs.

Everything just happens so fast...

Owch to the bend on your MP! How did that happen?

EDIT:

Yup, ebay special. Friend of mine used it for a bit, no stability issues, so I bought it from him. Put in a 5770, and boom, unbelievably fast.

^ Ah, i really should learn to read!

This is my set-up at the moment,

Dual 24" Monitors and One 15" monitor hooked to my 2010 Mac Pro. The 15" is used to display a constant vnc connection to my centos server.

Appears to be a monitor arm mounted to the desk (look closely at the black vertical tube behind the larger monitor; I presume it's a dual arm model).
It looks great. I have a 30" ACD myself, and thought I was stuck with the base that doesn't pop off easily. Now that I look, it appears I can unbolt it from that base and use some other mounting product. :)

TY, I really like the new setup cable management is better and even though it's Ikea it seems to be able to take the weight of the 30",20", and MP

Its this:

http://www.amazon.de/MDM12D-Dual-LC...QW/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1358490594&sr=8-23

and an apple VESA adaptor. I think the 30" is about maximum it an hold weight wise but I've had the mount for a couple years now and wouldn't trade it for anything.
