If true, these prices are hardly "aggressive" as they were earlier dubbed.

The entry level MacBook would be $200 cheaper, the high end model $100 MORE than it is now.

MacBook Air: High end model $99 cheaper

All the other models + all MB Pros same price :-s

Prices...

Lets hope those aren't the price/model mix! There really needs to be at least a $200 across the board price drop right now. A $900 "netbook" would be a non-starter, although I can see it as a way for Apple to keep from impacting the rest of the lineup.

I also hope they can come up with a much better price on the 17"; my existing Core Duo 17 will have to last another year if it is still $3k as configured.

I do think the totally separate K part number (if true) and different price-point reveal something entirely new in the product line... we will see tomorrow!!!

A $400 difference between the low end and mid range MB doesn't seem plausible.

Seeing that the part no of $899 MB actually starts with a 'KB' is quite interesting. If this rumor holds any truth then my guess is that this low end MB is not a MB at all. We'll see in a few hours!

899 for a netbook?

Doubt it! Not even Apple could get away with that, unless its a very high end netbook, although that would begin to become very close to the Air.

'K' is for Kidbook. Atom-based Macbook for the wee one. Gotta train 'em early.

Hmm...right.
So, is $899, like, er, £450 Or £899, in ripoff Britain?
[XE currently puts it at £515...but sheah, right, like that will ever happen =P].

MBA is a high-end netbook. Netbook specs crammed into a full-size case with a lovely over priced price tag.

The MBA should be $899 no reason for it to be as high as it is.

$400 difference between the Mac Books? Does not make any sense. If the $899 one matches (or better then) the current Mac Book specs with a Superdrive I'll bite. As-is I see prices on Refurb Mac Books dropping on Apple.com. Never saw one go below $899 and there is one right now for $799....getting closer.

I too am having a hard time making sense of the $400 price gap between the $899 and $1299 models without adding an entirely new type of notebook.

In my opinion, the 899$ model is the one that's coming with the Intel Integrated Graphics, slower CPU, less RAM, smaller hard drive....but still that will only justify up to 300$ difference....but we would get student discount right?

As others have mentioned, if these are indeed the prices, it will be an epic failure on Apple's part to recognize the economic situation at hand.

People love Apple products...but aren't stupid enough to spend $$2500 on a laptop regardless of how slim or sexy it is. The MBA is a prime example. It sold, but hasn't taken off. Even the $899 and $1299 price points are an insult.

Let's just hope, this is a fake price list. But having followed Apple for so long, I'm leaning to think it's accurate.

Ok, one more post before bed.....

Two sets of part numbers are circulating around the web tonight.
...snip...

Here are the part numbers and prices into what we believe is the most likely breakdown, though we are adding our own speculation into the raw numbers:

- K29, MB382LL/A $899.00 - MacBook
- M97, MB466LL/A $1,299.00 - MacBook
- M97, MB467LL/A $1,599.00 - MacBook
- M96, MB543LL/A $1,799.00 - MacBook Air
- M96, MB940LL/A $2,499.00 - MacBook Air
- M98, MB470LL/A $1,999.00 - 15" MacBook Pro
- M98, MB471LL/A $2,499.00 - 15" MacBook Pro
- M88, MB766LL/A $2,799.00 - 17" MacBook Pro
... snip...

( I am on my work computer, so no beefs about IE here )

If I compare to current prices.

Me thinks.....

$899 - Base line with combo. just to increase sales.
$1299 - what the baseline black was.
$1599 - Blu-ray?

This is the only way I can see making people happy, since the prices are going to still be high.... So in a sense, with the new Alu. case, you get

$200 off the current 13 w/combo
Middle current white eliminated (only difference was the size of the hard drive)
Specs of black, now the middle.
New higher end macbook with blu-ray, higher end graphics card?

As for macbook pro? really hard to guage with no movement on pricepoints...

Air, appears to drop $100 of the high-end baseline. probably to make up for the difference in the drop of SSD drives.

Other than that, apple better wow us as these prices are not that different.

I see it... "The most affordable Mac notebook ever"... "And it's super thin...", "Unbelievable"...
