It definately has something to do with the sim card. I can only assume there is a field on the SIM card that has a spot where your phone number can be entered. Obviously it is not on my current sim, even though it is activated for my phone #.

My wifes Iphone shows her # at the top of contacts list and in Itunes, mine does neither.

My old Iphone, even though it is not activated, and has no service, it does have the old SIM in it. I have totally wiped the phone by using the erase all content and settings option, but the phone still shows my phone number at the top of the contacts list. If I remove the sim and choose the reset network settings on the old Iphone, The phone # goes away and stays gone.

As soon as I put the SIM back in the Iphone, it immediately puts my phone # back at the top of the Contacts list.
