That is a logical, well-founded statement, backed up by credible evidence, that applies in all situations.

Not.
If you don't care about uptime, reliability, support, overselling, then they're fine.

I've had several websites hosted at GoDaddy for over 11 years now. For really basic service (my sites are pure HTML, and I also use them for about a dozen POP email accounts) they have been just fine and support has been prompt. Not needing or buying any extras, the price has been unbeatable. Downsides have been an incredibly over-complex control panel, general sleaziness, poor and limited app plugins, and the barrage of up-sale attempts. I will say that the first two have improved markedly since Parsons left.

Again, Godaddy has had the best telephone support I've experienced, no downtime, yes they do like to stick a bunch of upselling bits and pieces before you can click "pay", but they also offer dedicated hosting.

As an alternative for a dedicated root server, try Hurricane Electric ( he.net )

GoDaddy is terrible- the prices have gone up too high - all the games you have to play with their gimmick upselling and complex website BS- do yourself a favor and use a different service

I started a message board that has been hosted on Siteground for a number of years. When I made a business site with Wordpress, I did it there also. I saw that Go Daddy was cheaper for what I needed and moved my site over to them. I purchase 1 year at a time. I did the move myself and did the setup myself. Sure, I had a few issues, but I worked through them. I can tell you that Sitegorund has horrible, but functional customer service. I have to believe it would be on par to what Go Daddy appears to have. Frustrating, but eventually, you get to where you need to be.

My domain names are handled by Domain It. I have had few issues with either host and no domain issues by keeping them in their own little place. The phrase "individual user experience may vary" probably applies.

A friend of mine had a site with the domain from Godaddy. He lost the domain because Godaddy 'forgot to renew the domain with the registrar'. Forgot? How the hell does a company that specializes in domains 'forget' like that. He tried to get his old domain back, but it was already a porn site.

I generally avoid big hosts ran by big corps... I find you get a much more personal experience with smaller hosts.. you obviously need to find the balance between new and experience, it's no good choosing new hosts that can be inexperienced or disappear. Currently with SwiftHost and couldn't be happier.

I've had some problems with GoDaddy but that only comprises less than 5% of our deal with them. One time our site was hacked and that also included all the backups. They did their best to fix it but I had to rebuild it myself. An entire 3 yrs of content. I believe they could have done a better job but such is life. Other than that my experience has been golden.(that was on Wordpress hosting btw). I have used their VPS, Shared hosting and WordPress hosting. No other such problems in more than 3 yrs i call that a win.

SO get a coupon and build your site: https://waterprofits.info/sales/godaddy-coupon-code/

A friend of mine was running a website through them, and apparently there was a third party involved in the registration of the domain name, and in his case, the 'payment' never happened. He lost his domain because GoDaddy didn't pay the bill for the registrar for his domain name. Someone else slurped it up, and had the rights to it, and offered it back to him for a six figure price. It now connects to a raunchy porno site. This happened almost ten years ago now, but I have steered clear of any third party type domain registration agreements. I hold them directly, or it ain't happening.
