how the heck do you get the timing right on all those speakers???? I find myself messing with my 5.1 constantly to get it right.

Audyssey set's the speaker distance (aka timing).

----------

Sweet....one suggestion, bundle up those cables (get longer ones or extensions if you have to) and use some cable braid to route them all in one packet down behind the stand.

It's on my list to do!

More upgrades on the way though :

- Denon 4520 or Arcam 600 receiver
- Denon 3313 blu-ray player
- ISF calibration on the VT65
- Synology NAS storage
- PS4 and Astro A50 headset
- BK XS400 Subwoofer

When all this is in, then the cable routing will be done :)

Yea - cabling becomes one of those last things that adds style points to living room set-up.
I got 1" split loom tubing from parts express, makes it easy, buy it by the foot.

So true.

I just got some additional supplies to clean up our cabling even more. Some cable tacks, additional velcro straps (for use on the rack), going to drill a hole through the upper mantle to snake the cable more direct vs. around the ends (which would be a bit messy, even strapped down).

I also went with white cables (speaker, power, HDMI, coax), so they’re a little less conspicuous against the light colored wall, baseboard, mantle, etc., smaller cables where possible (Redmere HDMI) to make management easier.

Living room setup :

Sony Bravia 3D 46" Smart TV
Onkyo AV
Sony BRD Player
Note the Gemelec in the top right of the TV photo...I have a pair that are available for both studio and AV purposes.

Bedroom:

Toshiba 46" 3D Smart TV ( New )
Yamaha AV system
Two Denon's drive the front end whilst centre and rear are Onkyo's
LG BRD / MKV capable BRD player

Poor pictures but taken in low light with my IP5S

Both BRD's are also 3D capable, although I must admit, I really don't watch a lot of 3D content...The occasional movie or nature documentary...and some of the online contact that Sony provides...

65" LED HDTV is mounted above the mantel while the entertainment center houses the other media devices (blue ray player, game console, etc). Mounted behind the television is a Apple TV as well as a surge protector.

Nice use of cord concealers!

Thank you. I'm thinking about one day ripping it all down and rerunning the cables along the ceiling next time for a even 'cleaner' look.

wow very nice work man! how long are the HDMI cables and optical cables?

Thank you muchly :)
The cables are 25' each and I'm using 2 cables per component along with female to female adapters to connect them together.

Nothing special but works well for my tiny house in the city. Miss my full blown 5.1 component setup I had in the burbs but it sounds OK for now.

Samsung 4k TV 55 inch
Apple TV
Chrome cast
Ps4
Xbox
HD security cams
Mid range Samsung sound bar
Everything hardwired with cat 5.

Love the 4k TV. It's worth it even upscaled.

My next step is to move up to a high end sound bar, or perhaps look for a sleek minimalist 5.1 setup. also considering moving all the devices to the closet on the right and running a single visible hdmi cable to the TV.

It works well for movies and TV, but it sounds really hollow when you listen to music. I have been watching tons of live performances recently on YouTube and it comes up a bit short in the sound stage. Plus it blocks a bit of the TV.

Just got another pair of Audioengine A5+ for the home theater setup today. As my house is extremely small, the A5+ literally filled my entire house with its volume, although that I would never blast the volume to an insane level. The A5+ is also hooked up to the Airport Express for streaming music from my iPad and iPhone.
