it depends.. should be pretty quick if you're on broadband. If there are open ports, it should report them, for example:

Port Scanning host: 123.123.123.123

	 Open TCP Port: 	22		ssh
	 Open TCP Port: 	407		timbuktu
	 Open TCP Port: 	427		svrloc
	 Open TCP Port: 	497		dantz
	 Open TCP Port: 	548		afpovertcp

Again, if you're not seeing anything.. then the IP is wrong, or the ISP is blocking YOU, or there's a firewall somewhere (hardware or software) blocking all the probes.
