Swap 15" MBPr for 13" & TBD

Thinking of selling my early 2013 15" 8gb/256 MBPr for a 13" 8gb/512gb and TBD for my office, i would like more storage and a bigger screen and the smaller 13 for moving around. I know the TBD is a few years old but like how it works from what i have seen. My wife has a 13 so know the difference. Cost is about $200 more than if i just were to get a 15" 16/512 but don't really need the power. A Apple girl actually talked me out of that one on the phone yesterday for my uses.
Anyone using that setup?

I keep the Mac on a stand (opened) because I find the wireless performance is poor in clamshell mode.

I mainly want it for photos/video/tv/movies and would have it sitting about 2ft behind my MBPr, and would use the MBPr for reading. So it 'would be open, we only use wifi. I may just keep my 15" too after trying my wife's 13" on my desk its too small.
