Yeah, it's a chain store. They are authorized Apple resellers and I believe they do warranty work as well. The one I went to is close to Yokota AB on Route 5.
Thanks for the information

Hey, I was wondering where in Japan you got this? Where is this PC Depot located? I saw around 5 to 6 results in Tokyo area in Google Maps.
Tsukumo had it in stock earlier in the week for around 7,200 yen (with free shipping) but I don't see it on their site now so they likely sold out.
Akibaoo has it for just under 6900 yen (500 yen shipping).
Thanks! I'll check it outbtw, do you have any idea where to get Momentus XT 500GB in Japan? It seems like they don't even sell it. BTW, I can't order anything from the internet, because I'm still a student. Personally, I just don't like the idea of having to register an account linked with a credit card, unless it's something very urgent.
In Japan you can pay by bank account transfer and COD when ordering from the Internet.
Amazon Japan is selling this hdd for about 7400 yen but it's through a 3rd party company so shipping isn't free. If you can't trust Amazon with a credit card, you can't trust anyone on the Internet.
I just got the 1TB Samsung Spinpoint M8 today and ran some benchmarks for any folks that are interested. (AJA, QuickBench, & XBench)
The XBench has the 1TB Samsung M8 on the left and the 500GB Apple (Hitachi) stock 7200rpm drive on the right. Pretty surprising results!
AJA results running the same test on my new Scorpio Blue 1 GB 5400 rpm drive installed in a 13" 2009 MBP.
My Momentus is starting to cause some issues... looks like its luck has finally run out after a year and a bit of very heavy pounding. My OCZ Vertex 3 is in the mail... currently at Australian Customs, and SMART is showing the MomentusXT is failing at an accelerating rate. Hopefully the SSD will show up before the XT is pining for the fjords.
The Samsung has been fast and stable thus far, but in the optibay there is a distinct clicking sound as it writes.
RMA that momentus for sure

I've had 2 of them since August. No issues.
But you'll be paying $35 more than I did.![]()
