Yeah, it's a chain store. They are authorized Apple resellers and I believe they do warranty work as well. The one I went to is close to Yokota AB on Route 5.

Thanks for the information :) I don't think I can visit there because it's takes around 2 to 3 hours from where I live. I just checked the PC Depot official page, and they said there is a store that has it near my house, around 40 minutes train.;)

Worked perfect in mine. It's still a 5400rpm drive though. My Seagate xt screams past it in booting and launching apps.

Hey, I was wondering where in Japan you got this? Where is this PC Depot located? I saw around 5 to 6 results in Tokyo area in Google Maps.

Tsukumo had it in stock earlier in the week for around 7,200 yen (with free shipping) but I don't see it on their site now so they likely sold out.

Akibaoo has it for just under 6900 yen (500 yen shipping).

Thanks! I'll check it out :) btw, do you have any idea where to get Momentus XT 500GB in Japan? It seems like they don't even sell it. BTW, I can't order anything from the internet, because I'm still a student. Personally, I just don't like the idea of having to register an account linked with a credit card, unless it's something very urgent.

In Japan you can pay by bank account transfer and COD when ordering from the Internet.

Amazon Japan is selling this hdd for about 7400 yen but it's through a 3rd party company so shipping isn't free. If you can't trust Amazon with a credit card, you can't trust anyone on the Internet.

Haha, alright. Don't get me wrong though. I did ship some stuff from Amazon before, but as I said before, if I can get it directly, such as biccamera or gozima, I'm not going to use my credit card and wait for it to ship to me.

I just got the 1TB Samsung Spinpoint M8 today and ran some benchmarks for any folks that are interested. (AJA, QuickBench, & XBench)

The XBench has the 1TB Samsung M8 on the left and the 500GB Apple (Hitachi) stock 7200rpm drive on the right. Pretty surprising results!

AJA results running the same test on my new Scorpio Blue 1 GB 5400 rpm drive installed in a 13" 2009 MBP.

Any feedback on battery life ?

I'm gonna change my 320 Go (5400 t/m) (from apple/hitachi) for this.

Good choice?

Here's my Samsung, in active use as the secondary to a Momentus XT, for the most part these two dual platter disks are about on par with eachother with the rest of the field playing catchup.

Installed the M101MBB in my mid-2010 MBP a couple of days ago. It's a bit faster than the stock 250gb 5400 rpm Hitachi drive, it's a little louder though.

My Momentus is starting to cause some issues... looks like its luck has finally run out after a year and a bit of very heavy pounding. My OCZ Vertex 3 is in the mail... currently at Australian Customs, and SMART is showing the MomentusXT is failing at an accelerating rate. Hopefully the SSD will show up before the XT is pining for the fjords.

The Samsung has been fast and stable thus far, but in the optibay there is a distinct clicking sound as it writes.

RMA that momentus for sure

I've had mine since it was released (July '11 IIRC) and still haven't had a single issue.

I've had 2 of them since August. No issues.

But you'll be paying $35 more than I did. :D

Thanks everyone for the feedback i already got my new drive I'll try to post later how the install went.

Thanks again.
