Hi all,

I've got a rMBP on order (went for the ultra - 2.7/16GB/768GB ). I'll be coming from 2008 Unibody Macbook, which has been a trusty steed but has always bothered me with its sharp bottom edge. I was wondering whether any of you who have used an rMBP have found typing on it. Does it still have that annoying edge pressing against your wrists?

Only three or so weeks to wait...

Cheers,

There's an easy fix for this if it's bothering you!

It still has the same right angled edge, yes. However, you really shouldn't be resting your wrists while typing at all—it's bad ergonomic posture and can contribute to a possible RSI.

It's sharper than current regular MBP edge, but more rounded than the 2008-2009 models.

I figure that it retains the basic shape of the MBP and so it will have sharp edges. Personally I'm not really bothered by it.

PSH..

I tape razor blades all around the edges of my macbook pro.

I went from the exact same 2008 unibody MacBook to the retina, and while the edges are still sharp, they are definitely less sharp than my 2008.

It's an long time Apple anomaly. Bothers some. Others not so much. Your wrists will either get used to it (seriously) or you will adapt to a different typing style.

Besides, where else can you get an onion dicer/laptop combo except from Apple?

Its not much of an issue during typing, but while just using the trackpad it cuts through the inside of your palm. Bummer.
And the interesting thing is the bottom side of the laptop is smoothy curved... while the one your hands sit on is like a Ginzu knife.

I put my micro fiber cloth rolled up to use as a pad and its a lot better.

TwelveSouth.com there you, you just got an idea for a nice accessory!

I watched that video. Was that guy serious? I have the rMBP. It does have sharp edge but the edge is not sharp enough to break the skin even after trying. I don't see a problem. :)

I dont think it really cuts your skin, its just the feeling that it does.. :)
