rMBP Speakers are good!

Received my rMBP yesterday. Loving it so far. Though you do notice all the pixelated images all over the web now.

I am listening to iTunes now and I'm very surprised with how good these speakers sound. Very full sounding speakers - from a thin laptop - pretty sweet! :)
 
I could make my 2009 MBP speakers crackle at high volume.

This is not possible on my rMBP :cool:

Wow :eek: These speakers are good! I'm really impressed. The "back-of-the-ear bass" is completely missing though, but hey, they're laptop speakers. Very good.

Wondering what something a little more dirty would sound like...
 
Can't wait till mine arrives. This was a big factor in my decision to get a rMBP over the MBA. I use my current MBP's speakers all the time.
 
They sound really good!!! I'm really excited for mine to arrive! Too bad I have to wait till the mid/end of this month!

I appreciate that everyone has different musical tastes, and mine is quite eclectic, so I decided to check it out, having never heard of Sub Focus. I agonized through 47 seconds of it before I had to stop it. As one comment on YouTube said:

By the way, the MBPR speakers are quite good!

Sub Focus is one of the better Drum & Bass producers around at the moment, but you've gotta like your electro!
"Eclectic", psh, my iTunes is eccentrically eclectic.

The bassline in this song (comes in around 25 seconds) is pretty subtle and very deep, I'd be amazed if the MacBook's speakers pick it up at all.

I think it sounds very nice for a laptop playing music in iTunes, even at high volumes. I did notice the boot up Dong noise sounded a bit harsh when I initially booted it which had me concerned, subsequent boots after lowering volume don't sound bad though.
 
I'd say that it is nearly impossible for people over 50 to enjoy EDM in the first few listens. It isn't so much about their age as much as it is about getting accustomed to the sound of synthetic instruments and drum machines.

I think the same goes for metal to most people, it isn't very accessible until you hear it a lot.

I couldn't stand any electronic music until about three years ago, now it's my favourite genre. Took a while for me to open my ears to it.

I really hoped the new rMBP speakers would match those in the 17" to ease the transition to 15". I put my 17" down in the apple shop and played the same track on both and alternately muted them. Even the apple store employee had a "yeah sorry about that," look on his face. 15" was nice and clear but no depth compared to the 17".

The 17" was just big enough to fit in speakers that produced what I would describe as good enough sound. Meaning external speakers seemed unnecessary. When I go 15" I think I'll be looking for some decent but compact portable speakers to carry in the laptop bag. Any suggestions welcome.
