The blanket assertion that all 13" screens are LG isn't really proof of anything. At least the sub pixel photo comparison is part of an educated guess.

Except that no one ever reported IR on a Samsung display or someone did reported getting IR with that 13" model so ... I would put it in the LG basket and tend to beleive my uneducated guess better.

As much as I'm tempted to figure out which display I have, I think I should not let my curiosity get the better of me. So far, I like the display and if it turns out it's not the popular choice, I might start looking for imaginary problems.

Ignorance is bliss

....for now.

I believe people got it on Samsung displays as well, just less often. At least that was the case for the first-gen rMBP.

Couldn't agree more with your approach.

A 2.0GHz base model I got through work is A022, Samsung.

Any one care to post a comparison picture between the supposedly whiter LG & the Samsung?

Here is a side by side of my machines:

(I am only keeping one; I placed the order for the 2.6 on launch day but wanted to change it to 2.3 - but it was too late to change, so I placed a separate order).

Both screens look good - but I like the LG (it's much whiter). The Samsung is warm.

Amazing how much variance there is between essentially the same computer.

Yet you still tout your totally "uneducated guesses" as statements of fact in a desperate attempt to get others to believe your BS. :roll eyes:

No all 13" are LG sorry.

Yeah, you can keep repeating the same thing ad nauseam all you like but it won’t suddenly make your uneducated opinions true. And that’s what they are. Opinions. However, I’m sure you’ll keep harping on about it like some scorned wife until you find a few unsuspecting suckers to buy into it.

Haha. Until you prove me wrong I'll keep telling what I think is the truth thank you.

open Terminal copy and paste the following:
ioreg -lw0 | grep "EDID" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

And hit 'return', the first thing you'll see is Color LCD then immediately below that you'll see numbers and letters. If the letters start with LSN that means it's a Samsung display. The second line will look something like:
LSN154YL01-A01

This doesn't work on my 15rmbp 2013 late

They don't charge a restocking fee for return?

My BTO has a LG screen. The screen seems fine. No yellow tinge and no image retention (at least that is visible to my eyes).

My hueyPro screen calibration tool/software identified my screen as "samsung LCD". I have a 2013 rMBP 13" Maxed out.

No Idea if it's correct or not, but I'm happy with my screen.,

My DSLR extension tubes came in today. The magnification is still too small for the Retina display though. I'm going to see about getting access to a microscope of some sort. :/

Like others have said, it's obvious without testing if you have a problem (for example, the Dock being retained).

What a tough choice, with BTOs being 4-6 days out for any model with 1TB, and the "display roulette" of not know what your going to get its gonna be tough. Ever think about getting maybe a 2.3 with 512GB just because the store will have plenty of that configuration to "exchange" until you get to one your satisfied with? That, or maybe just hang on to 2.6? (depending on how 2.3 tests go)

The Available to Ship for BTO with 1 TB sucks but the 1 TB is a must have. I went back and forth on that one too - but really happy with that decision -- my Itunes library is 170 GB..I don't want to deal with the hassle of moving music files around...I have a lot of DJ / club music sets that are one of a kind and live recordings.

Might just want to request an exchange and see if you can hold onto your existing unit you receive it, if you can. (for either 2.6 or 2.3)
