Applied for a Specialist position, had 3 interviews, was told to complete background

Hello, I applied for a specialist position at a local Apple Store. I've had 3 interviews so far, first a group interview, then an interview with a store leader, and I had one final interview yesterday with the District manager.
After the 2nd interview I got an email telling me to complete my official employment application online. shortly after I completed that, I got another email telling me to complete an online background check.
The next day I got a phone call to set up a time for a 3rd interview with the district manager. Yesterday I had that interview. I think it went well overall, but I was really hoping they were going to tell me if I got the job and make me fill out paperwork; that wasn't the case. There were some questions where I was stumpted on though, she would ask me to name some features on Mavericks and I would name a couple and then she would be like "okay, what else?" she did that a couple times with other products too such as the iphone and it was hard and I would get nervous because I don't know ALL the fetures but I tried to answer to the best of my ability. But i think I did okay overall. They said they'll let me know by the end of the week what will happen.

So, what are my chances of getting the job since I've had 3 interviews, was told to complete an OFFICIAL employment application, and had the background check?

There is really no way for anyone here to whether you will get the job or not.

Anything said would be a blind guess...and I'm not sure what you will get out of that.:)

Pretty good, I'd say. They don't usually involved the DM unless you're close to a lock. I'm surprised they asked you such detailed questions about products - when I worked there they made it very clear you needed no knowledge of Apple products to be hired. In fact, they preferred you just listen and be trained instead of thinking you know things that may be incorrect or outdated. The people in my group interview (keep in mind this was awhile ago) who were Apple know-it-alls did not make it to the next round.

I didn't hear that I got hired in the meeting with the DM, they called me later on to inform me, I think. It's been awhile. I hope you don't have to work retail too long. It may be Apple, but it's still long days on your feet for relatively low pay, dealing with a good amount of asshats. Keep a sense of humor and don't let the rude dicks ruin your days. Good luck!

I feel like I got it because they made me do a background check and I feel like they wouldn't waste the time of the DM if they were'nt going to hire me, you know? but I wish they would just tell me! is it just a formality that they have to go through?

Well, they definitely do have to run the background check and such. They also typically start you paperwork in their system, etc. I wouldn't worry until a week or so has passed.

How can they tell you until they know the results of your background check? lol

The background checks are performed by a 3rd party, so it goes as fast as it goes. They pay a fee for the background check, so that right there should tell you something.

I actually got a rejection email on Monday. I'm a little shocked.. But oh well. I can try again at a later time. I sent a thank you email to the hiring manager.

wow this is making me nervous now. I have a third interview with the store leader and I thought I have a better chance at getting the job.

Don't lose hope. I honestly think I didn't get it because the third interview with the district manager didn't go as well as the others. I was a lot more nervous for that one because I was talking to someone with such high authority. Just stay cool, calm, collected, and professional and you'll do great! Keep us posted!

Thanks for all the infer ricard0man. I was wondering if you could give me some tips for filling out the online application? For example, what would you put in the personal keywords section or in general making the application stand out? Did you upload your own resume in addition to filling out all the info? Thanks again!

There's not much you can do. Just really make sure you have a cover letter and your resume attached. Make it seem like you're a Apple enthusiast and you want to help people. What really helps is going to the store you applied to and talking to someone. Maybe make friends with an employee there and they can possibly refer you. That's what helped me; my SO bought a MacBook Air and the guy who helped her out was really cool, so I let him know that I applied for a couple positions and he took my name and number down, a week later I got a call for an interview!

Best one liner I've heard concerning the process:

What do you think is your greatest fault?

Applicant: Honesty.

I think that's an asset not a fault......

Applicant: I don't give a **** what you think. :)
 
Well I got the email saying they're moving on with other candidates. I know I messed up. I messed up really badly. Oh well.

They did say "will reach out to you in the future when new opportunities become available" is this the only glimmer of hope i have? lol
