Dinosaur on black after reset

I just bought a used 3G and did a hard reset. It brought up the apple logo and the bar filled up completely. Next screen to come up was a black screen with a white t-rex. It's been stuck there for about an hour now. Can't find anything on this anywhere.

Is this normal?

Hahahaha,

I think the previous owner tried to reset it after jailbreaking (and probably replaced the logo with PwnageTool or similar), but it didn't get to finish, so it tried restarting, but then because again it didn't finish, it just hangs.

I would get it into DFU mode and connect it to iTunes and go from there.
