No love for the Yotaphone 2?

The Yotaphone 2 got released this week - it has a one normal screen, then the back of the phone is an e-ink 4.7" screen, very interesting.

The phone is admittedly expensive, but the tech is pretty exciting and reviews seem to be promising (camera aside).

Anyone checked it out?

I actually would buy the phone if it were released in the States carrier unlocked with a non-outrageous price (I'm pointing at you LG Flex!)

Only if someone lives in Russia or one of the few SE Asian countries it got released in.
 
I really hope they created a dual-screen, high-end, 10-12" 3:2 or 4:3 tablet using the same dual-screen arrangement. Probably even a direct alternative of the Surface Pro 3 - with an active pen, preferably. (The Android port of Inkspace is very slow, at least on my Note4.)

The concern I have is how durable that e-ink screen is. That's basically the body of the phone, and given how other e-ink screens wear over time, that might not be a good idea. …

No, but I will. Since OS X Yosemite killed my interest in a modern iPhone (I have a first generation, refurbished) I'm taking a more open-minded approach.

I learnt of YotaPhone few days ago. From the dates at http://yotaphone.com/gb-en/press-center/ I imagined that YotaPhone 2 had been around for a few months. It's a pleasant surprise to discover that its release was so recent.

£555 seems reasonable. 32 GB storage.

Last year, I was actually excited by its potential. This along with the S6 edge are two of the most intriguing smartphones. And read recently that this phone will arrive in the US this year but for $600 and a little too late. Still for $600 with a near 2-year old SoC? The fact the cam is mediocre doesn't help its value either.

The e-ink reader on the back is cool although this technology would work better on a tablet. And you can find much better value elsewhere like from Huawei, ZTE, and BLU. We end up overpaying for unproven technology and for companies (unproven like YotaPhone or proven like Samsung) to recoup their R&D losses.
 
No idea how you would do it, but it would be great to have an e-ink screen incorporated with an amoled screen. The power you would save just reading texts or checking football results would be huge!
