I have been thinking about getting myself Jeffrey Zeldman's book designing with web standards for quite a while now.
Yesterday, after checking out where I could get it here in Copenhagen, I decided to go to the IT University bookshop (40 mins each way, public transport). I got off of the bus out there and started walking towards where I thought it should be. However it wasn't there.
After having walked for about 10 mins, I found myself in the middle of a huge building site, ankle-deep in mud. Bollocks🙁 !! I was lost. There was only one way out of this. I had to climb over the perimeter fence. RRRRIIIIIPPPP! There go my jeans!😱 But I was out!
When I eventually reached civilisation, I managed to get directions. Which sent me all the way around the block again and guess what.....I had walked right past it on my way into the building site.😕
Anyway, when I got into the bookshop it was amazing. Shelf upon shelf of Web development and design books. In English, no less!!! I could have spent soooo much money. After much browsing I decided on three books: designing with web standards, understanding color, Professional CSS.
After my three hour trip, I got home without a problem and I am now half-way through Chapter 3 of Zeldman. The man is a god. Even though he is dealing with interesting but dry subject matter, he writes in a really engaging style. So much so, that I can't put it down (well only to write this post).
The moral of this story...there isn't one. Just a story about how I managed to get a pair of fashionably ripped jeans.
Have you read any good books lately....
